With the heavy hitters attracting most of the attention, there are bound to be other shows that fly under the radar. Though not as popular, these anime have their special appeal. They may not featurethe most mainstream genresor cater to a large demographic, but they have the potential to become hidden gems within the medium.

The Gene of AItells the story of a doctor capable of treating both human illnesses and issues with humanoid AI. It is set in a world of science fiction where AI is responsible for up to ten percent of the population, and their well-being is as important as that of a regular human being. The protagonist of the story, Dr. Sudo Hikaru, is an extremelyskilled and compassionate doctormaking it his mission to help as many AI as he can.
He is also not afraid to use illegal methods to achieve results, though he only does so when it is in the best interest of his patient. He has an undercover name, Moggadeet, which he uses when performing such unlawful procedures, and he will go to great lengths to achieve success.

Adapted fromthe popular role-playing gameAtelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout The Animation, is an anime about a girl who wishes to escape her painfully ordinary life. Stout Reisalin is the story’s protagonist, and she is an adventurous girl who wishes for nothing more than to go beyond the confines of her hometown. Unfortunately, however, regulations surrounding the town make that impossible, and she is forced to live with her frustration.
On one fateful day, Reisalin manages to escape by boat along with some of her companions, and they begin their adventures in earnest. They encounter powerful monsters, helpful companions, and new concepts, such as alchemy, which allows them to create various items and enhance their abilities.

A skilled pâtissier in his past life, protagonist Morteln Pastry Mille has carried over his ambition to createthe world’s greatest pastryin his new world. Despite his significant expertise, he finds it difficult to adapt and is faced with different issues that impede his goals.
He also has to learn how to fight, as well as employ magic in different aspects of his life. This makes for a multifaceted experience with many engaging aspects, as its audience is treated to a good mix of comedy and action, as well as given fascinating insights into pastry-making.

Synduality: Noiris a sci-fi anime set ina post-apocalyptic worldwhere most of humanity has been wiped out. The factor responsible for this is referred to as Tears of the New Moon, a title given to the mysterious acid rain which led to the creation of dangerous creatures.
After several years, humanity has built a city underground named Amasia. It is a safe haven where they can live in peace and without fear of the creatures born of the acid rain. While looking for ways to improve their situation, they come across an AI named Magus, and this encounter promises to be a significant one in the context of human history

Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Woundsis an anime original about an orphan boy who gets mixed up with acquaintances and disciples of his mysterious father. The protagonist, Yanagi Yukito lives a relatively normal life, but soon after an encounter with one of his father’s disciples, he is taken to a place madewhere dragons are known to reside.
The island is known as Ayakashima and is also Yukito’s birthplace. It is made up of seven islands, and there, Yukito meets two more of his father’s disciples. Ayakashima has been preserved so far due to the presence of these disciples, but now that harmony has been threatened, Yukito’s role in all this is gradually revealed.

BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! is an anime belonging to the massive BanG Dream! franchise with a significant presence in mobile gaming and other relevant media. This anime, however, focuses on the MyGo!!!!! group and explores their lives as Haneoka Girls’ Academy students.

The story follows five girls who meet at the academy andform a bandjust like many others in the school. Every girl has a reason for joining, and their stories are unique and engaging. Their emotions reflect in their songs, and their resolve to push forward is great to watch.

Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Herotells the story ofa reincarnated demon lordand a washed-up hero who uncannily end up sharing the same living quarters. A long time ago, the hero Max and his party were responsible for defeating the oppressive demon lord. However, after a series of scandals and ill-advised decisions, Max now lives alone and has been forgotten by most of the human population.
This doesn’t sit well with the newly reincarnated demon lord, Maou, who is disappointed to find their great adversary in such a pitiful state. As a result, Maou resolves to get Max back on his feet and occupies the hero’s house while assisting him in different ways.
2Yohane the Parhelion: Sunshine in the Mirror
This is a spinoff of the popularLove Live!franchise, specifically fromLove Live! Sunshine!!. In the original storyline, the girls are aspiring idolswho form an idol groupin hopes of stopping their school from shutting down. In this adaptation, however, they are thrown into a fantasy setting with Yohane as the main character, a girl who tells fortunes.
Though she has spent most of her life alone, struggling to fit in, she comes across companions with unique personalities throughout the story. These companions are re-imagined versions of girls from the original anime, and their adventures are just as exciting
1Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence
After taking the anime community by storm with a phenomenal adaptation of theOshi no Komanga, studio Doga Kobo is back toits more cutesy, lighthearted style withSaint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence. The story is set in a small town with a local pastor and saint as the main focus. They reside together and perform services for the local townspeople, but the dynamic of these two characters is more interesting than it seems.
Despite being a devoted saint, Cecelia often tires easily and has to be managed by Lawrence. This makes for wholesome interactions, as the doting pastor is seen on multiple occasions caring for his lax housemate. It is not a one-way thing, however, as Cecelia genuinely cares for him as well and does all in her power to keep him safe.
