The game follows Arthur, a blacksmith taking overhis father’s forge in Franceduring the 100-Year War. Anyone familiar withmanagement and building simsknows that resource gathering and streamlining production are keys to success. However, many of these games like to hide mechanics and features for players to figure out on their own. When starting out, new players may find themselves struggling to take advantage of all the features available. Here are the best ways to avoid those pitfalls early on inAnvil Saga.

9Smelt The Ores

Right from the start, players will be given ores to smelt. However, following the tutorial, they will have to go out and find more on their own. Regardless of how many are available in the inventory, make sure to smelt them all into ingots as soon as possible.

The reason is that nearly everything that players will make - both for themselves and clients - will require some amount of ingots to craft. Having a bunch on hand (ideally more than necessary) will help maintain visitor satisfaction and help players upgrade their shop and forge, allowing them tocraft more complex ordersand increase their fame.

8Go Mining Often

This is how players will acquire ore. Mining is available at any time and can provide various returns depending on how long players spend mining and how high their or their worker’s mining skill is.

The trick is that sending a worker (or Arthur himself) off to mine ore means they won’t be around to work the shop. This will result in work at the smith taking longer to complete and can damage the shop’s fame iforders aren’t completed on time.verify to mine often, but attempt to balance time spent gathering ore with time spent in the shop.

7Learn How To Sharpen A Sword

This is easy enough to do, but players who aren’t aware it’s necessary can go hours without realizing their sword is dull, and far less effective than it could be. It will require some building, but will absolutely be worth it during the course of the game once bandits start showing up.

First, build a workshop. This can be accomplished fairly early in the game with a bit of resource management. After that, players will need to craft a grindstone as well as a table for their workshop. That’s all! These three things make sword sharpening possible, both for the player and as a job that can be completed for customers.

6Increase Maximum Fame

Fame is a stat that will allow players to upgrade their stall, and well as take on more orders and fulfill bigger orders for more gold. It’s arguably themost important stat in the game,as it influences everything from what can be built to how much gold is being earned for building it.

Fame is limited when players are first starting out, and certain tasks will need to be completed in order to increase that limit. To start, players will need to build a couple of extra rooms in their house. Fill those rooms with the required furniture listed on the information panel, but no extra furniture needs to be purchased. After that, change the wall and roof design, and the maximum fame limit will increase.

5Upgrade The Stall

Once the maximum fame limit is upgraded, players can start thinking about upgrading their stall. It will take some work but will allow players to hire more workers and complete more orders.

First, players need to get their fame up to 50, the new maximum. This can be done by completing orders and keeping the shop open. Next, players will need to amass 200 gold. This part is more difficultand will require fulfilling a lot of orders. It is best to not accept orders where the customer says they will pay sometime in the future. That money will arrive eventually, but the shop’s time can be better spent earning gold more immediately.

4Keep Workers' Jobs Consistent

Early on in the game players will hire their first worker. This worker can do any job that Arthur can, from mining to smithing. However, players must delegate the work they do, or else their employees won’t do anything.

It’s best to assign this worker the same tasks day after day. Doing so will increase their skill level at that particular task, which will then result in better dividends from their work over time. For example, sending a worker out to mine ore regularly will allow them to bring more ore back from the mines at one time. Similarly, assigning them the task of fulfilling orders will result in them completing the work more quickly as they improve.

3Keep The Stall Open As Long As Possible

This may be self-explanatory, but players can choose when to open and close their shop. It can be easy to forget at first, so make it the first task of the day. Whenever possible, it’s also beneficial to keep the stall open late.

Simply put, customers won’t come to the stall when the sign says closed. Fewer customers mean fewer orders, which means less gold, which means a harder time upgrading the stall and house. It’s a slippery slope, so flip that sign!

2Feed And Pay Workers

Workers can get hungry and expect to be paid. This makes sense, but all the best shop owners know thattaking care of their workersmakes the shop run better.

Feeding workers will happen automatically as long as there is food in storage and workers get hungry enough. However, they can also be directed to make a meal, which they will then leave on a table. Workers can then be sent to eat the meal, but if a meal is left sitting out for too long it will rot. Similarly, at the end of each day workers will expect to be paid. Players should try to reserve a bit of gold for this purpose. Otherwise, workers may refuse to come back to work.

1Make Careful Choices

WhileAnvil Sagais a blacksmith sim at its heart, it is also an RPG. With that comes the occasional narrative decision that players must make, and their choices will have consequences on how the game plays out.

Some of these decisions can be minor, such as wooing the local dream girl.Others can have significant consequencesand can affect the outcome of the war itself. Siding with England or France (or rejecting both and taking up with local bandits) will affect the kind of customers the shop will see, as well as the order requests being made. Workers will also respond to these choices. A French worker may not stick around at a shop that sides with the English.
