Ubisoft has released a new trailer promoting a game mode that just added to the console versions ofWatch Dogs: Legion. Thisnew mode is calledLegion of the Deadand was previously only available to PC players in an Alpha state. WhileWatch Dogs: Legionlaunched last year to average reviews, it has rejuvenated itself by releasing strong post-launch DLC content.
Legion of the Deadis a co-op zombie survival game mode that can be played solo or with up to three other players. Public matchmaking is also available as an option. It includes many of the features found in other games of the zombie survival genre, including managing resources and using power-ups. This mode is coming toWatch Dogs: Legionin addition to therecently released story DLC known asBloodline, content that featured the return of Aiden Pearce, the protagonist of the first game.

In this new mode forWatch Dogs: Legion, players are tasked with finding supplies scattered throughout London and making it out alive. In addition to the zombies, players must also deal with Albion soldiers and Clan Kelley enforcers, as they are guarding valuable resources that will be essential to surviving. Every successful extraction will reward them with “Z-creds”, which can be used to purchase powerful weapons and tools for the next run. The trailer focuses on players using various weapons, tools, and special powers in order to survive in a zombie infested London. It goes over some of the features that will be a part ofLegion of the Dead, such as 4 player co-op, and ends with confirming that the game mode is now available to all players as a free update.
According to Ubisoft,Legion of the Deadis designed to be extremely dynamic, as players can use a wide variety of strategies in order to successfully escape. They must adjust their tactics on the fly, with finding new loot, gadgets, and ammunition being a core part of the gameplay loop.
Despite the initial reaction toWatch Dogs: Legion, Ubisoft has revived interest in the game thanks to all of the new content they have added over time. It does seem likeLegion of the Deadhas been well receivedby PC players, whileBloodlinealso launched to a slightly more favorable critical reception.
Watch Dogs: Legioneven has acrossover event withAssassin’s Creed, that seemingly feels like a perfect blueprint for a newAssassin’s Creedgame set in modern times. While this probably marks the end of Year 1 content forWatch Dogs: Legion, Ubisoft may now be encouraged to release more DLC and story expansions for the game if reception continues to be positive.
