With the highly anticipatedCall of Duty: Vanguardreleasing next month, and alargeCall of Duty Warzonemap updatecurrently taking place, theCall of Dutyfranchise is booming. Although not mentioned nearly as otherCall of Dutyproperties,Call of Duty: Mobilehas also been receiving fairly substantial updates. It looks as though the mobile space will continue to grow as Activision Blizzard just announced that it have acquired mobile game developers Digital Legends.
Call of Duty: Mobilehas been doing very well for Activision Blizzardgarnering more than 500 million downloads as of May. Just this past June, it was announced that a new AAACall of Dutygame was in development for mobile. The mobile market is a lucrative one and it appears that Activision Blizzard wants to further grow in it.

Activision Blizzard announced the acquisition of Digital Legends, mobile game developers responsible for theRespawnablesseries of games, andAfterpulse. Digital Legends has already been working with the other teams under Activision Mobile throughout the year. Digital Legends will be supporting the development of a new mobileCall of Dutygame. While Digital Legends’Respawnablesseries has a more cartoony aesthetic,Afterpulseoffers impressive realistic mobile graphics and gameplay mechanics that will greatly aid in the newCall of Dutygame.
Currently, there isn’t further news on the mobileCall of Dutygame that is being worked on.Call of Duty: Mobilehas done very well for Activision Blizzard so one would imagine this new game wouldn’t want to overlap. AlthoughCall of Duty: Mobilehad a Zombies modeadded a couple of months ago, it didn’t play like a traditionalCall of DutyZombies mode.
The development of aCall of Dutygame specifically focused on Zombies for mobile might sell incredibly well and won’t overlap on the experienceCall of Duty: Mobileoffers. Activision did releaseCall of Duty: Black Ops Zombiesback in 2015 for mobile but hasn’t been updated in quite some time, preventing many from playing the game if their phones are too new.
Of course, it’s also possible thenew AAACall of Dutymobile gameis something completely separate from Zombies. It could replaceCall of Duty: Mobileas a port ofCall of Duty: Warzoneor take a more single-player route. There are many different ways that the game could go. Regardless of what it ends up being, with the various studios currently being hired by Activision Blizzard, it’s probably a safe bet on it being its largest mobile game to date.
