Gamers still have a few days to go untilAlan Wake 2arrives on PC and consoles, but thanks to developer Remedy Entertainment at least now they know when they’ll be able to preload the survivor horror sequel and how much storage space will be required. Ahead of thelaunch ofAlan Wake 2on October 27, Remedy has revealed when PlayStation 5 and Xbox owners can preload the game as well as the file space required for installation on both PC and consoles.
The reveal of the debut trailer forAlan Wake 2at The Game Awards 2021came as a welcome surprise following years of rumors about Remedy revisiting its cult classic horror title. While the originalAlan Wakenever received the same sort of widespread recognition as Remedy’sMax Payneseries, the game’s Stephen King-inspired protagonist and unique light-based gameplay helped it find a loyal fan base over the years. AlthoughAlan Wakereceived two DLC episodes following its 2010 release and a standalone spin-off in the form ofAlan Wake’s American Nightmare, fans continued to clamor for a sequel. Calls for a follow-up grew to a fever pitch in 2020 when Remedy released theAWEDLC forControlwhich saw the Bureau of Control investigatingAlan Wake’s titular protagonist.

As initially reported by GameSpot, players hoping to immediately dive intoAlan Wake 2when it unlocksnow know when they can start preloading the game on their console. Remedy has revealed that PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to begin preloadingAlan Wake 2on October 24 at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET / 7 AM GMT, giving them the chance to install the game 48 hours before its official launch. Unfortunately for PC players, Remedy didn’t announce preload times forAlan Wake 2’s release on the Epic Games Store.
Remedy’s announcement also revealed how much space players will need to set aside on their console or PC to be able to install the long-awaited sequel. No matter which platform players choose they’ll need to have a significant amount of free space, withAlan Wake 2weighing in at 86GB on PC and 85GB and 82GB on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S respectively. Given thegorgeous graphics inAlan Wake 2, it’s unsurprising that the survival horror sequel will require so much space on players’ hard drives.
After over a decade of waiting for the release ofAlan Wake 2,fans are undoubtedly excited to step back into the shoes of the game’s titular protagonist. And while they still have a few days until they can take control of Alan Wake and new character Saga Anderson, hopefully, the ability to preload makes the time pass a bit faster.
