The new map “The Fungle” transports players into a fungus jungle island, where lies and deceit run rampant amidst a backdrop of a beach at sunset and untamed wilderness.
Among Us’s newest map is a masterpiece that beckons players to explore its mysterious and hidden Easter eggs. The Fungle offers a unique setting for crewmates and impostors to navigate that is unlike any other map in the game. There are loads of thrilling new elements to be excited about in this shroom-filled adventure land. Players should strap on their Skeld-issued dropship seatbelts and prepare for a bumpy ride!
10A Change Of Scenery
After the crash landing on The Fungle, the crew spawns at a campfire with a few logs and ejected seats from the dropship. The map is surrounded by a murky yellow sea. Explore a bit to the left side of the map to find tasks scattered among the beaches and the fishing dock.
The purple mushroom jungle is at the bottom of the map, filled with — that’s right — mushrooms. Its spooky atmosphere and new mushroom cloud sabotage encourages the crewmates to do their tasks and get the heck out. The right side of the map has a variety of different rooms, such as the mining pit, the lookout, and the greenhouse. There are also familiar locations like communications, the upper engine, and the reactor.
9The Fungle Cosmicube
Among Usintroduced theRoles and Cosmicube update in 2021, encouraging players to buy reward systems using in-game currencies andby purchasing stars. There is a cosmicube for every map inAmong Us,and The Fungle does not disappoint.
This new cosmicube costs 70 stars. Once it has been purchased, players can earn points in the game towards their cosmicube. Use these points to unlock items from each path. The contents of this cosmicube unlock Fungle-themed merchandise like the satellite dish, starfish, and he bucket hat.
8Fresh New Tasks
Players will be happy to see that some of their favorite tasks, like watering plants and recording the temperature, have made a reappearance in The Fungle. There are also new tasks that players get to experience for the first time. A fan-favorite task is to grab a stick, head over to the campfire at spawn, and roast the perfect golden crewmate marshmallow. Just verify to stop roasting before it burns.
Many have also taken a liking to the fishing task at the dock. Catch a specific number of fish, and then head over to the kitchen to do the coinciding task of cooking up the fish.
7An A-Spore-able New Pet
Since the release of The Fungle trailer in theSeptember Nintendo Direct, players have been speculating about whether they will see the adorable sand crab as a pet in the game. Fortunately, a new crab (alongside the existing bedcrab) has joined the myriad of pets in the game.
Plenty ofcuteAmong Uspets, like the hamster or the mini crewmat,e can keep the crewmates company.But none will be as fitting as this little crab from The Fungle cosmicube.
6Wardrobe Overhaul
There are several ways tocustomize a crewmate or impostor. The update that comes with The Fungle map introduces an overhaul to the existing hats, skins, visors, and cosmetics in the game. Match the map’s overall theme with the fishing hat, pool floaties, or life jacket.
The excitement doesn’t end with normalAmong Us.Many new hats areavailable inAmong Us VRto celebrate the release of The Fungle.Among Us VRcan be played on Meta Quest 2, PS VR, and SteamVR. Sport the sand castle bucket hat, or other mushroom apparel.
5New Sabotages
The fungi taking over this island are not just for aesthetic or thematic effect. They hold a secret to an important ability available to both crewmates and impostors. When struck, the mushrooms emit spores into the air, and briefly cloud the vision in the area surrounding the mushroom. This new sabotage can allow impostors to commit acts of crime without being seen by other crewmates in the area. Crewmates should always keep an eye on players in the surrounding area, but might want to run away from the spore cloud if theywant to survive the round.
The second sabotage is a total power play called the Mushroom Mixup. The impostor can sabotage the crewmates by momentarily randomizing everyone’s appearance and removing their names, so that no one will know who is who. It’s the perfect opportunity to kill.
4The Meeting Conch
Suppose players see something “sus"picious and need to share vital information with their crew members. In that case, they cancall a meeting by pressing the Emergency Meeting button, typically located in the center of the map.
TheAmong Usteam has ditched the old button and replaced it with a conch shell. In several island regions worldwide, conches are used as a musical instrument. When blown, their sound is often used to alert islanders of possible threats like storms or attacks. An ominous horn-like sound will play to bring the players to the meeting screen where they can chat about their suspects and vote a player off.
3Send-Off Animation
When the group decides on a player to vote out, an animation plays to send the evicted crewmate off into the void. Developers have always created comical, sometimes graphic animations for the different maps. For example, in the “Polus” map, crewmates who get voted out get dropped into a fiery volcano and drown in a pit of lava.
In The Fungle, the crew stares off into the sunset as they watch their evicted friends float away into the sea on a makeshift raft. The raft then catches fire, ensuring the possible impostor’s demise. Avoid getting lost at sea byblending in with the innocent crewmates.
2Eye-Spying Binoculars
Prepare to see The Fungle through an entirely new lens. In a game that rewards cunning deception, it is crucial to keep a sharp eye on everyone around the map. Every map inAmong Us, excluding the MIRA HQ,has a camera system that allows players to see their fellow crewmates (and impostors) in several areas around the map.
On the new map, once-familiar camera system has been replaced by a giant pair of binoculars tospy on crewmates and their antics. What makes these binoculars unique is that there is no sure way to know that someone is using the binoculars, like the other camera systems in the game. Impostors can never be too sure that their antics aren’t being watched.
1Swapping Vents For Carnivorous Plants
In all four of the previousAmongUsmaps, the impostors (and crewmates on occasion) have a special ability to conceal themselves byhopping into vents around the ship. The Fungle map is the first in the game’s history to swap the creaky old vents for a carnivorous plant that swallows impostors whole and spits them out in a new location.
Travel from the Laboratory to the Greenhouse with ease. This way, the other crewmates won’t be “sus” of the impostor’s proximity to the dead crewmates. Just beware of the all-seeing, all-knowing binoculars.
