Roviois one of the biggest names in mobile gaming with titles like the small puzzlerSmall Town Murders, the match 3Sugar Blast, and, of course, its flagshipAngry Birds. This week, however,Roviois jumping into the RPG space with the release of its new gameDarkfire Heroes.
Darkfire Heroesis the first title developed by Rovio Copenhagen, formerly known as Darkfire Games before it was acquired by Rovio last year. The studio has a history of making mobile RPG titles and was acquired by Rovio to help the company branch intonew mobile gaming genres.

Darkfire Heroeslaunches on April 15 worldwide after a well-received soft launch in select territories over the past month. The game is anew mobile team-based RPGthat sees players building a team of different heroes and controlling their spells and abilities as they march their way through missions against a wide variety of enemy types in both a single-player campaign and a PVP arena mode. The game mixes the strategy of unlocking heroes with different roles and abilities to build the best team and the skill of properly casting and targeting the various abilities of those heroes during the real-time battles that look as though they can get pretty hectic.
In speaking with Game Informer, head of Rovio Copenhagen Rune Vendler says thatDarkfire Heroes' well-balanced mix of the single-player campaign and multiplayer arena are the title’s main selling points that aim to catch the attention of fans of both types of experiences. Vendler also goes into detail about how the studio is working with the community to ensure that the game remains balanced and is developed in a way that the players will support and be excited for, which they hope will ensure that that the player base stays satisfied and engaged as the game continues to grow and develop after release through new heroes, missions, andtimed events that many mobile players have come to expect.
The mobile gaming market has been steadily garnering attention from larger game studios,like Bethesdaand Activision. Mobile games have become more and more complex, with many very well-known console and PC games likeFortnitehaving fully playable mobile versions. This has led to many more mobile games being available, butDarkfire Heroeslooks as though it stands a good chance at standing out thanks to its fast-paced action mixed with meaningful strategic decisions as well as Rovio’s reputation for releasing fun and well-polished mobile experiences.
