It’s not just in-game creativity that the community shares, but real things too like hand-made crafts, fan art,custom-made K.K. Slider albums, and lots more. One particularly interesting part of theAnimal Crossingfan art is the gijinka art, allowing fans to imagine their favorite NPCs and villagers as if they were human.

10Lucky, Ankha, and Coco

This fan art bykittentideshows some love to the weird kids on the block, Lucky, Ankha, and Coco. This piece turns our favoritespooky villagersinto their human equivalents, though rather hauntingly Coco maintains her gyroid-like face.

All three of these characters are linked to death in some way, such as Anka’s house resembling an Egyptian tomb. Lucky is a mummy and his house resembles a cemetery, which also has K.K. Dirge playing. Coco resembles a Japanese haniwa statue, a clay figure used in funeral rites, and her house also plays K.K. Dirge.

9Isabelle

Animal Crossingwouldn’t be complete without your best girl Isabelle on hand to help you run your island. Isabelle was first introduced inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, but it’s hard to imagine playing the game without her now.

She quickly became a fan-favorite character with her adorable personality and willingness to help, becoming so popular that she even became a playable character inSuper Smash Bros Ultimate. Isabelle resembles a Shih Tzu dog, with her Japanese name of “Shizue” alluding to this. However, in this fan art by ciaraturnerart, we get to see her as a young, trendy woman, instead.

8Redd

Everyone’s favorite con-man recently got added intoNew Horizonsin an update, much to the relief of fans who were concerned he had been omitted from the latest title entirely. Of course, when Redd appears, so too does the amount of artwork, both forged and real, so players are now able to collect artwork for their museum.

In this fan art by retquits, we see Redd maintaining his ears and tail despite being in human form. This actually works well, as many fans believe he is a fabled kitsune from Japanese folklore, a fox that is able to shapeshift into a person at will and which could have up to nine tails, with more tails meaning more wisdom.

7Raymond, Marshal, and Fang

In this fan art bysegseu, we see some of the most popular male characters turned into absolute dreamboats, featuring fan-favorite Raymond, Marshal, and Fang. Raymond was added as a new character toNew Horizonsand quickly took the fandom by storm, with manyplayers paying big bucks—or more accurately, bells—to snap him up for their own island.

Marshal has also been a fan favorite since his arrival inNew Leaf. Despite being a smug character with a rather grumpy face whose catchphrase is “grumpy,” players simply fell in love with him. Like many of the other wolf characters, Fang remains a popular choice amongst players, and he has appeared in all games in the series excludingAnimal Crossing: Wild World.

6Orville and Wilbur

Two new characters that were added toNew Horizonswere the dodo brothers Orville and Wilbur, both of whom work at the Dodo Airlines airport, with one being the receptionist and the other the pilot. Both dodo characters appear the same with the only real difference being that Wilbur wears aviator sunglasses, leading many fans to believe that the brothers are twins.

This fan art by badturquoise is great at capturing the camaraderie between the two brothers and has also emphasized Wilbur’s cooler personality by giving him a bit of stubble.

5C.J. and Flick

Two other new characters toNew Horizonswere Flick and C.J., the younger relations of Nat and Chip, replacing their older relatives as the bug and fish competition hosts. These two are business partners, but theofficial strategy guidealso explains that they are roommates, leading fans to come to the conclusion that, when they refer to each other as “partner,” it’s not just in a business sense.

This adorable fan art byreapersun_arthas perfectly captured the two love birds enjoying their favorite hobbies, with C.J. sharing updates to his followers while Flick is painting his beloved models.

4Coco

In this fanart bycowslip, we get to see a more traditional-looking Coco that uses her regularAnimal Crossingface as a mask, while still managing to present her shy and reserved personality.

Coco is seen holding a gyroid-like item, which could be the gyroids ofAnimal Crossingthat many fans believe she takes her appearance from. However, it could also be a haniwa, which gyroids are believed to have been based upon. Either way, Coco is looking absolutely adorable in this image.

3Kyle

In this fan art bymeisterc, we see a great interpretation of what Kyle would look like as a human, though he still has his wolf ears and tail. This piece gives him a bit of a delinquent/cool guy look, which is in keeping with his personality as inNew LeafKyle actually tells the player, “When I was little, I used to be pretty mischievous with some of my guy friends…”

Additionally, as a smug personality type, Kyle often talks to the player about himself and will frequently tell them how cool he is. He certainly looks the part here.

2Raymond and Marshal

Another interpretation ofRaymondand Marshal in gijinka form, this time by darkgreyclouds. Each image really emphasizes their different character personalities despite both being classed as the smug type of villager. Raymond is a refined gentleman who likes to keep things neat and tidy but who apparently won’t turn down a french maid outfit if you gift him to it.

Marshal, on the other hand, is a younger, grumpier looking character who prefers his blue puffy vest and casual style. Additionally, this portrayal of Marshal shows his love of music by giving him headphones.

1Beau

This fan art byJaneMereis absolutely adorable and is giving plenty of autumn vibes as we see Beau in his classic woolen jumper. As Beau is a lazy personality type, it makes sense that this piece shows him resting on a hammock, looking as though you’ve just interrupted his afternoon nap.

Additionally, Beau has the nature hobby trait, so it’s no wonder that he enjoys spending his time outside. InNew Horizons,he wears a similarly designed woolen jumper, as both appear to have knitted deer on the front, but it is green instead of cream.
