Summary
When the originalAnimal Crossingdebuted in 2001, it was quick to provide players with a wholesome experience full of friendship and laughs. However, in 2005, withthe introduction ofWild World, a new inhabitant emerged, casting an ominous shadow over the once-idyllic paradise and serving as a terrifying reminder that even in the most peaceful setting, danger still looms. Nonetheless, while this creature was a bone-chilling addition toAnimal Crossing, it would undoubtedly make for a perfectMinecraftmob.
WhileMinecraftis in a distinctly different genre from Nintendo’sAnimal Crossingfranchise, there are still elements it could glean from the widely successful social simulation series. For instance, the creepy-crawly scorpion from the depths ofAnimal Crossing’s critter catalog would be a prime candidate for the survival sandbox’s next mob. After all, this iconic creature wouldn’t just be a new mob, it would be a direct response to community desires, as evidenced by the scorpion’s popularity in the Mo' CreaturesMinecraftmod.
Scorpions Would Be Perfect For Minecraft
Fans Have Been Pining For a Scorpion Mob For Years
Scorpions have been lurking in the desires of someMinecraftplayers for several years, but exactly when this craving began is difficult to pinpoint. Considering that the Mo' Creatures mod was released in 2012, it seems player interest existed at least this early, if not before. Regardless, if Mojang were to introduce this mob in 2024, it could offer a unique challenge in addition to mirroring the harmfuleffects of scorpions inAnimal Crossing.
Curiously, scorpions have made an official appearance inMinecraftonce before. Though they never made it past a conceptual stage, they were targeted for the desert biome. Unfortunately, since their last showinginMinecraft1.17 live, the developers haven’t indicated whether there are any further plans for this animal.
Minecraft Could Complete its Desert Experience
WhileAnimal Crossing’s rare summer scorpionsfit the game’s seasonal theme,Minecraft’s sandy deserts are a more natural fit for this potential mob. When encountering a scorpion in the desert, it would make sense if the arthropod remained neutral unless provoked or in a dark area, much like how the spider mob behaves. Rather than biting like a spider, however, attacks could be executed via their poisonous barbed tails.
Though a warm-desert species of scorpion would truly complete the habitat, forest, cave, and frost variants could truly makeMinecraft’s world richer with diverse and exciting encounters. As such, adding variants of scorpions inMinecraftwith unique appearances, behaviors, and potential drops could be quite exciting for the community. Past mods have even included scorpionsin the Nether, making travel into the other dimension all the more harrowing.
Scorpions Would Create A Unique Minecraft Experience
Interestingly, the venomous stingers weren’t just a visual detail in the 1.17 update. Instead, they changed how players approached the formidable mob. In the future, there may even be a possibility of harnessing this venom for new crafting recipes. The potential for this unique mob seems boundless. Hopefully, Mojang will consider adding this mob, either as a selection in aMinecraftmob voteor a future update.
