Season after season,Apex Legendsmakes changes that fundamentally shift the meta. Sometimes, these are big character buffs andnerfs, particularly when it comes to Caustic. Sometimes, there are new weapons or new maps for players to learn. There are usually weapons buffs and nerfs, weapons put into and taken out of the care package, different golden weapons released, and much, much more.
What all of this does is keepApex Legendsfeeling fresh. If the meta never shifted, then the game would grow old quickly. Any live-service game, but especially a battle royale game, needs constant content changes to retain its player base; this is why the seasonal model is so effective. However, there are some things that never change, but that does not mean they shouldn’t.

Apex Legends’ Character Select Screen Needs a Face Lift
On Reddit, user zilke_ asked what others thought aboutRespawn Entertainmentchanging the character select screen every season (which feels unlikely but every so often would still help). They illustrate their idea by sharing a custom image—one that looks a lot likeValorant, according to various users. This isn’t what Respawn would use obviously, but it’s still a question worth asking.
As zilke_ also points out, the timer and simple smoke background has been around since the game launched—three years ago. Changing it every season would freshen up the aesthetic of the game, but even just once would probably go a long way. It seems zilke_’s idea is pretty popular too, sitting at 2633 upvotes and 196 comments in just 15 hours.
What’s also important to consider is howApex Legendshas been touted as a ten-year game, and three years into it, it’s showing no sign of slowing down. Ten years into it,Apexwill have a ton of legends and its current character select screencould be very unwieldy. Changing it at some point seems like a rational choice, even if it wasn’t every season.
Of course, when and if this happens remains to be seen. It would be a nice touch and a good quality of life change, especially for those so accustomed to the old screen, but it’s probably wouldn’t be at the top ofApex Legends’ priorities. Still, theApex Legendscommunityseems to like the idea.
Apex Legendsis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Mobile is available in select regions; PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
