Respawn Entertainment’s battle royaleApex Legendsleans heavily into giving its players access to alternate skins for the Legends they can play, much like similar character-driven rosters in titles likeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. The developers even offer specialTwitch Prime skins for characters such as Loba, and fans like Wolfdawgartcorner on Reddit have taken to this idea by creating their own unique skins.

Wolfdawgartcorner uploaded an image of a concept for Revenant, the offensive-based cyborg introduced to headlineApex LegendsSeason 4, with added inspiration from the similar cyborg General Grievous fromStar Warsto the r/apexlegends subreddit. The most overt references come in this skin’s face and the lightsabers attached to Revenant’s right leg, but the rusted and bandage-covered look also resembles some of the robotic creations from the Cartoon Network andAdult Swim cartoonSamurai Jack.

The artist has a portfolio of similar concepts, such as a Caustic skin based on Darth Vader, but their work extends into other game series includingWarhammerandFor Honor. One fan in the comments of the post asks whether Wolfdawgartcorner is a professional concept artist for games likeApex Legends, but they say they have only freelanced for Hi-Rez Studios' multiplayer online battle arenaSmitedespite wanting to do concept art full time.

Revenant as a playable character was not incredibly powerful upon his introduction, but a buff mid-way through Season 4 led to him being a higher-tier Legend even through the introduction of Season 5. His status as a headlining “new” character also led to him getting lots of attention within the game’s underlying story, a distinction that has carried on through recent events such as the"Enter The Revenants" quest.

Wolfdawgartcorner’s concept skin for the character, based on a popularStar Warsantagonist primarily seen inRevenge of the Sithand theClone Warsseries, has drawn a lot of attention for being unique and appealing to look at. The same could arguably be said forRevenant’s Twitch Prime-exclusive skinavailable between February and March that gave him a “Gilded Rose” samurai aesthetic.

Though it’s unlikely the developers will draw from a fan’s concept art for official skins, it would be great to see the artist get recognition in a career field they enjoy and excel at.Apex Legendswill continue to implement events and skins all the same, with a recentdatamine revealing a “Treasure Hunter” collection eventcoming soon.

Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
