This is so handy, especially in places like the Underdark where there are creatures like Wraiths, which can teleport and disappear. Tougher enemies like Yurgir the Orthon and Balthazar also make use of the power of invisibility, and a quaff of this potion willbreak through their most important defense.

Picking up a Nothic Eye, a key ingredient in this potion will unlock the recipe. The other ingredient needed is any type of Vitriol, which is made from materials that include mushrooms and lichens. Some spells can accomplish this same feat, but if they’re not available, use a potion.

One of the many options for AoE damage in the game in the form of an explosive device, Alchemist’s Fire looks like a potion but the character throws it like a grenade. It ignites as soon as it hits, which makes it easier to use than items that require a spark before they burn.

Mix Ashes of Fire Ember with any salt to make Alchemist’s Fire. When it’s time for a fiery ambush or a fighting class that needs some ranged power, it’s one of the best potions to make with Alchemy.

Planetar Feather Essence + Any Suspension

This potion puts the imbiber to sleep, which is why it’s a bit risky to use during combat, but the benefit is that it has the same effect as a Long Rest. The Potion Of Angelic Slumber restores a character’s hit points, spell slots, and cooldown abilities provided they can snooze unintrrupted for two full turns.

Prices will varydepending on the character’s Charisma, but they can also be purchased for around 200 gold, a tidy sum if you want to make them and sell them. If you’re doing a speedrun, or just trying to get through the game with as few Long Rests as possible, knowing the recipe for this potion is indispensible. Any potion that increaes a character’s strength has a variety of uses, and this is the easier one to make via Alchemy. It’s not just for increasing physical damage but also just for the practical purpose of carrying a lot of stuff, which is what Helsik at the Devil’s Feee wants the Gloves of Hill Giant Strength.

The potion increases the imbiber’s Strength stat to 21 until their next Long Rest, and that counts for any potion that puts them to sleep, so keep that in mind before you cancel a buff or other temporary benefit accidently. For those that would prefer to buy them, ask Derryth in the Myconid Colony or Auntie Ethel in the Sunlit Wetlands.

Tree Bark Salts + Any Suspension

Spellcasters, who often don’t wear armor of any kind, swear by this handy elixir to get them through a tough fight. Players might recognize the name from a popular defensive spell that’s also found inDungeons & DragonsandpreviousBaldur’s Gategames, and this concoction might even be a reference to it.

The character discovers this recipe when they reach the Underdark and kill a few Needle Blights. These creatures drop an item called Woodbark, and when you pick it up, it teaches them how to make Tree Barks Salts, the main ingredient for theElixir of Barkskin.

Sometimes it’s a way to reach a place that would normally be inaccessible and other times it’s a handy escape from a tight combat situation. It can also be used to cushion the falling damage should a character get shoved off a ledge.

The petals of the Autumn Crocus, a flower that can be found in the sunny woods of the Sword Coast, are the main ingredient. Combine them with any Essence and this lifesaving potion will appear in the character’s inventory.

2Elixir Of Arcane Cultivation

Weavemoss Vitriol + Any Sublimate.

This elixir is intended mainly for spellcasters, but any classthat knows a level 3 spellcan benefit from it. The Elixir of Arcane Cultivation gives the imbiber an extra level 3 spell slot, which is great for a damage dealer as well as a healing class.

Weavemoss is the main ingredient, and it’s found in the Underdark. Although it’s not exactly plentiful it’s not extremely rare, either. There’s a Greater version of this elixir available should the player come across a gem called Laculite.

Rogue’s Morsel Salt + Any Suspension

Sometimesthe party healer isn’t available. They might be incapacitated somehow, out of spells, or maybe even down until another party member can give them a hand. That’s why other characters need to have some kind of backup, and one option is the reliable potion that can be used in or out of combat to restore hit points.

There are several versions of the Potion of Health, the first being the weakest, the easiest to make, and cheapest to buy or sell. They range up to Greater and Superior healing, becoming more powerful as the story progresses and the character discovers more useful potions and elixirs through Alchemy.
