Among the myriad of gadgets and equipment that players get to experiment with and upgradethroughout theArkhamfranchiseis the remote-controlled batarang. Recently, a fan noticed an interesting detail about the gadget inBatman: Arkham Knight.
Batman: Arkham Knightincludes appearances from many of Batman’s crime-fighting family, such as Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Catwoman. Batman and Catwoman’s relationship in theArkhamfranchise is flirtatious and contentious, withBatman: Arkham Knightbeing no different. The franchise’s third installment concludes their narrative as Batman and Catwoman work together a final time, helping one another escape from the Riddler at Pinkney Orphanage.

A fan, going by the username taborosnovax, has shared a hidden detail about the remote-controlled batarang when throwing it at Catwoman. Interestingly, if players send a remote-controlled batarang hurtling toward Batman himself, he will snatch it out of the air before it hits him. The fan has since discovered that if remote-controlled batarangs are thrown at Catwoman in the Pinkney Orphanage, she will also catch them before they hit her. She can be seen pocketing the batarangs once she catches them, as a means for it to not suddenly de-spawn out of thin-air. The fan also experiments with firing multiple regular batarangs at Catwoman, though they do not make contact with Catwoman and hit the wall behind her.
In this section of the game, Catwoman is trapped in Pinkney Orphanage with an explosive collar around her neck. Players must then resolve a number of the Riddler’s engaging puzzle rooms and Batmobile obstacle courses so that Catwoman can retrieve individual keys that eventually unlock the collar. Players gain control of Catwoman again for the first timesinceBatman: Arkham City, with the control of Batman and Catwoman being interchangeable during certain sequences at the orphanage.
Unlike hip-fired batarangs that can be thrown rapidly at nearby targets, remote-controlled batarangs are manually navigated throughout the environment. Remote-controlled batarangs are commonly used when solving Riddler’s numerous trophy puzzles, which are otherwise unreachable by players themselves.
