Despite a perceived lack of role-playing elements, the immaculate world design of this game is something that fans have grown to appreciate over time. It helps that the exploration is supplemented by some of thebest Fallout 4 side queststhat compel players to find the NPCs and locations where they can engage in some of the best writing and set-pieces this game has to offer. Players who want to hit the ground running with this game and stay hooked for the long haul should complete these quests as soon as possible to enhance their experience with Fallout 4.
1Cambridge Polymer Labs
Quest Giver: Molly
From the moment players enter the ominous-looking Cambridge Polymer Labs, they’ll be treated to one ofFallout 4’s best side quests. Players will be greeted by a Miss Nanny robot called Molly who assigns them a job based on the Sole Survivor’s response to their query. After the orientation process, players are locked inside the facility and must complete the research project or find another means of escape.
Both avenues lend themselves to some of the most memorable moments inFallout 4, with the act of completing the project culminating in players meeting the director of the research facility who has turned into a ghoul and attacks the Sole Survivor, only for Molly to dispose of him in a comedic manner before the player’s escape is finally secured. Players who complete this quest early can be rewarded with a piece of Power Armor that can serve them well during the rest of their journey across the Commonwealth.
2Curtain Call
Quest Giver: Trinity Tower Radio
One of the earliest locations where players can flex the Power Armor they get early on in the game is Trinity Tower, which houses one ofFallout 4’s best side quests. Near this area, players can hear a distress signal from Rex Goodman, a naive intellectual who wantedthe Super Mutants in this locationto change their ways but ended up being abducted instead.
What follows is an action-packed climb where players must take on a wealth of Super Mutants before eventually making their way to the top, where they find Rex along with another Super Mutant by the name of Rex who was the only member of the group moved by Rex’s preachings. The duo must be brought back down, following which Rex takes his leave and Strong offers his services as a companion to the Sole Survivor.

The best part about completing this quest is that players will gain access to a chems lab at the end, allowing them to make the most of the many useful drugs that can be used to boost the player’s stats. However, players must be wary not to get addicted if they don’t want to suffer from any adverse effects of getting hooked on these chems.

Players can also contract the disease if one of the mole rats bites them. This leads to a choice where they can either cure the disease that afflicts one of the Vault’s inhabitants or keep the cure for themselves. Regardless of what choice players make, Curie will join them in their travels, making this a great quest to complete early.
5Human Error
Quest Giver: Honest Dan, Roslyn Chambers, Or Amelia Stockton
Covenant isone of the most fascinating locationsplayers can explore inFallout 4. The simple act of entering this area is quite engaging, with the Sole Survivor being barraged with several questions before even getting a chance to explore the compound. Here, they can explore a questline that uncovers the true purpose of this settlement.
It turns out that a scientist behind the scenes is using the settlement as a synth detection facility, trying to use a set of psychological questions to separate real people from fake ones. Regardless of how players resolve this situation, there’s no denying that “Human Error” is a great quest to show how much regular people fear lifelike Synths. It’s an excellent quest that further hammers in the stakes of the main story, displays the conflict between humans and Synths, and lets players tinker around with another settlement if they play their cards right.
6The Secret Of Cabot House
Quest Giver: Jack Cabot
The post-nuclear wasteland is full of eccentric characters, and a great way to interact with one such odd personality is in the quest “The Secret of Cabot House.” Players who save Jack Cabot’s sister will be asked if they can aid him in a situation regarding his father. However, instead of saving him, Jack wants the Sole Survivor to prevent his father’s escape by any means.
It turns out that his father, Lorenzo Cabot, is a certifiably insane individual who found a mysterious helmet that halted his aging for good. However, this also addled his mind, and his son experimented on him to fix him. Instead, he derived a serum that helped the family stay alive for centuries, with all of this information leading to players either freeing Lorenzo or ending his life once and for all. It’s an entertaining quest, and players who help Lorenzo can gain access to a powerful serum that is extremely helpful for reducing radiation and giving the Sole Survivor a buff that helps them tackle strong enemies.
7The Silver Shroud

The finale of this questline sees players fight against all odds to save their mission giver, which can end with his death if players aren’t swift enough to prevent his demise. Regardless of how things end, players will be more than happy to reach the end of one of the game’s best quests, giving an excellent impression of the narrative goodness in the game’s best side quests and compelling players to explore more of this desolate world.

Goodneighbor is a hub of unique characters, with one of them being Bobbi No-Nose. After heading to the tunnel in her house, it’s revealed that this character is planning a major heist where they plan to steal from the Mayor of Diamond City, using this tunnel as a means to carry it out.
This leads to a series of interesting events, ending when players are ambushed by the mayor and his goons. Here, players can either stick with Bobbi or betray her. Regardless of what players choose, the result is either a firefight or a surrender that serves as an ending to one of the most engaging questlines in the game. However, if players want the lovable Hancock as a companion, then they must kill Bobbi to gain the services of one ofFallout 4’s best companions.
9The Devil’s Due
Quest Giver: Private Hart’s Holotape, Guard in Diamond City
Deathclaws are one of the scariest creatures in theFalloutseries, and the fact that players can interact with a friendly member of this species is bound to be a rare occurrence. Such is the case when players go to the Museum of Witchcraft, where deathclaws await them.
However, not everything is as it seems. Players can find a pristine deathclaw egg that they can place in a nest in the museum. Doing so gains the approval of a friendly deathclaw who indirectly rewards players with a deathclaw gauntlet. Players can also try to take this egg out of the museum and give it to a Mister Handy named Wellingham, but they have to take out the mother who is furious and won’t let them leave so easily. Most people would argue that the deathclaw gauntlet is the better prize, especially for players who are pursuing an unarmed build and are seeking out a weapon that can decimate most enemies in no time. As such, players may want to consider tackling this quest early.
