Summary
Looping inDead by Daylightis an essential part of any match. Survivors who can extend chases to waste the killer’s time provide their team with time to repair generators. There are many perks inDead by Daylightthat assist survivors during chases. These perks aim to give survivors an advantage during chases and will help both new and experienced players.
Many killers will face issues when facing survivors with one of thebest looping builds, especially if their power does not counter looping.Killers using the Nursecan bypass looping due to the ability to teleport, but killers like Trapper and Ghostface find it challenging to land attacks because their powers don’t directly affect hits.
Updated June 23, 2025 by Aly Azmy:Dead by Daylight is constantly adding new perks that allow for new types of builds. This list was updated to tweak one build and add an entirely new one. The altered build now revolves around using windows thanks to one of Lara Croft’s perks.
The newly added build gives an easy-to-use yet highly effective build centered around distracting killers, allowing teammates to add valuable progress to generators. If all other survivors are working on generators, each second the killer wastes gives them 3 additional seconds to work on generators.
1The Vanish Act
Playstyle: Vanish At Will
Rather than extend a chase, escaping from one can always be a possibility. Survivors will take advantage of three perks to disappear from the killer’s sight and leave them searching the area. This perk works best if used near high walls that block the line of sight. It is best to avoid playing with one of thelouder survivors in the game, as killers have a much easier time tracking their grunts of pain.
2Bloody Escape
Playstyle: Vanish & Self Heal
The goal of this build is to last a long time before receiving a hit. Survivors must do their best to extend the first chase as much as possible to stall the killer’s time. After getting hit, survivors should have a planned escape to a safe area to self-heal with a med kit. The heals will make it harder for the killer to locate them as they cannot rely on audio. Lucky Break is used in manyfun survivor buildsbut has powerful potential to escape a chase.
3Window Abuser
Playstyle: High Risk & High Reward
Survivors mustutilize all looping tipsto stay one step ahead of the killer. Windows are any survivor’s saving grace to keep a safe distance from the killer. Three perks in this build center around navigating windows to the survivor’s advantage. With two perks that support vaulting speed and one that helps with finding windows, players will be making the most of windows inDead by Daylight. Dead Hard is the only outlier in this build, and it is best used when there are no windows nearby, giving survivors a chance to reach safety.
4Late Game Distraction
Playstyle: Distractor & End Game Focused
A small percentage in speed makes a significant change in a chase. A three percent speed increase will allow survivors to run loops that they would normally be unable to do. At the end of the game, this build shines as it gains an additional speed boost that makes it much harder for the killer to catch up to survivors. Survivors running this build make it their responsibility that others can escape while they keep the killer preoccupied.
5Flashlight Menace
Playstyle: Distractor & Aggressive
Flashlights are on the list ofuseful tools for survivors, especially when handled by a skilled player. Players can prevent the killer from picking up a survivor and potentially rescue a teammate who is on their last hook. The goal of the flashlight in this build is to attract the killer’s attention and help another teammate escape. Getting hooked on an active Deliverance can help stall the killer and buy the team some time to get generators done or heal up.
6Safety Zone
Playstyle: Team Focused & Safety
This build gives the whole team a safe zone to loop the killer while receiving a small speed buff. Players running this build can use Lucky Star to quickly hide from killers during a chase while inside the range of Boon: Shadow Step. This build hinges on finding dull totems located in hidden areas, so it is best to avoid relying on boons out in the open.
7Generator Looper
Playstyle: Generator Focused
The downside of many looping builds is that players will spend a lot of time trying to get the killer’s attention. With this build, generator-focused players will get generators done quickly while having looping potential if the killer catches them. Bringing a good generator toolbox with Streetwise will give Hyperfocus more chances to activate and get faster progress on generators to activate Wiretap. Fast Track will be felt past the mid-game and will give additional progress to finish generators at time-sensitive moments.
8Survivor Buddy
Playstyle: Team Player
Distracting a killer from tunneling a survivor is hard but not impossible. This build gives players the ability to save hooked players by pausing their timer and setting up a getaway plan for them. Finding a nearby pallet to trap is essential. Coordinating with survivor friends to use that pallet to escape may force the killer to break the pallet and thus give them a 4-second-long slowdown effect. The Overcome will prevent the killer from getting an easy down if they switch from the tunneled survivor to the savior.
9Generating Distraction
Playstyle: Distracting, Generator Focused
This build works best when paired with one other survivor on a generator, as a major aspect of it revolves around distracting killers and wasting their time. Once spine chill activates while working on a generator, players will lure the killer away from the generator, leaving their teammates safe. Bond will ensure that gamers don’t accidentally end upkilling other survivorswho are busy working on generators. The last two perks aim to waste valuable seconds of the killer’s time, giving the team time to complete generators.
