Players set on exploring the mutated yet nature-dominated world inBiomutanthave plenty of choices ahead of them. This open-world RPGplaces a heavy focus on the decisions one makes and this includes the relationships gamers form with NPCs. Following a great divide that separated the people of the New World, six Tribes have been established, however, the player cannot join all of them.

While one can change allegiances throughout the game,it is best to ally with a Tribe based on their Auraand if it matches that of the player’s current character. Those walking down the Dark Aura path should ally with Tribes who crave destruction: the Jagni, the Pichu, and the Lotus.

However, those treading the path of the Light Aura should join up with the other three tribes; those that seek balance and harmony: the Ankati, the Netra, and the Myriad.

Updated on June 11, 2025, by Reyadh Rahaman:Deciding what path to take inBiomutantwill depend on which playstyle players think is the most fun. Open morality choices have been around in video games for a while, and have always added a deep level of immersion when done correctly.

There always has to be some sort of gain or loss from committing to a path in games that allow for such choices, as that is when one’s decisions will feel significant and genuine. Furthermore, what is the “right” path also depends heavily on a player’s general perspective when it comes to the lives and journeys of the NPCs one will meet in this wild game.

Biomutant where to find Ankati

The Jagni Tribe

One of the first Tribes that the player can encounter in the early parts of the game, the Jagni Tribe is all about being feared and vanquishing their enemies–which can be the best choice for some gamers. They want to destroy the Tree of Life so that the ecosystem in the New World can be reset, however, they clearly seek to use this in order to place themselves on top of the food chain.

The Sifu (master) of the Jagni Tribe is Dusk, who is in possession of the Tribe Weapon: the Jagni Tribe Staff. This group of self-interested warriors can be found in Sector 4B.

The Ankati Tribe

Very much the opposite of the Jagni (and other Dark Aura Tribes),the Ankati believe in solidarity and think that uniting the Tribes of the New World and defeating the Worldeaters is the best plan for everyone.

Sniper is the aptly named Sifu of the Ankati Tribe and they guard the Ankati Bow. Players focusing on a ranged weapon build should seek this Tribe out in Sector 7B if they are after a decent bow.

The Pichu Tribe

Believing that only the strong should remain is the creed that the Pichu Tribe adheres to, which can be the best in a game all about combat and self-evolution.However, the strong individuals they refer to as survivors are likely meant to be their own Tribe members, for this group considers themselves battle-hardened.

Few can debate this, as the Sifu Fluoron Dew holds the Tribe Weapon known as the Pichu Tribe Nanchuk, which can be an excellent armament for players seeking a fast, close-range melee weapon with which to demolish enemies. This Tribe can be found in Sector 12G and are worth seeking out for Dark Aura players.

The Netra Tribe

Taking the role of their region’s protectors, the Netra Tribe seeks to preserve life at any cost and is always willing to help those in need. However, they wish to separate the Tribes so as to maintain a distant peace, despite many other Tribes considering this to be counterintuitive to their goals.

Those searching for an accurate and unique weapon should hit up the Tribe Sifu, Emissive Whisper, as they harbor the interesting Netra Tribe Grabbler, which is a novel grappling hook with great combat potential. Reaching the Netra Tribe will require the player to head into Sector 4I.

The Lotus Tribe

Extremely militant in nature, the Lotus Tribe desires to subdue, and likely control, all of the other Tribes in the New World. They possess a Maximum Dark Aura, which clearly represents their complete lack of respect for the lives of other Tribes. This seems at odds with the name of their Tribe, as flowers are often seen as peaceful symbols, however, the lotus actually symbolizes purity, regeneration, and rebirth: all things that the Lotus Tribe claims their path will bring.

The Tribe Sifu, Slimy Kong, is a fierce combatant in possession of the Tribe Weapon, the Lotus Shuriken, which can be deadly in the hands of players focusing on high-damage ranged weapons. Those interested in meeting Slimy Kong and acquiring the Lotus Shuriken should head to Sector 8K.

The player will be able to meet the Myriad Tribe around the same time that they receive the choice to encounter the Jagni Tribe, and which one the player should seek first depends on their Aura. Those walking the path of the Light Aura will be quite at home among the Myriad, as they abide by a code of honor. They seek to unify the New World through their Maximum Light alignment that represents their dedication to justice and compassion.

The noble Jet is Sifu of the Myriad and holds the Tribe Weapon known as the Myriad Tribe Boomerang; a solid weapon for those who like unconventional attack patterns. This Tribe can be found in Sector 3C, which is relatively close to where players first enter the New World.

Morality In Video Games

What Is Morality In Video Games?

Biomutantis far from the first game to give players the choice to align themselves with a particular group based on their moral values. Making the player commit to a particular path can immerse them into the world and possibly cause them to begin caring more about certain storylines and characters.

Giving gamers a moral choice is always more interesting as well due to such decisions requiring a greater level of thought than spamming buttons to get through dialogue windows so that exciting combat can be sought out. Video games are all about experiencing life in another world–especially so in RPGs, as players are inserted into a role in this virtual universe. Successful games will make this immersion feel smooth and natural, though, every player’s appreciation for the story element in titles will differ.

Other Games That Do The Morality System Well

Some popular games that do morality mechanics well are hit older titles such as those in theMass Effecttrilogy and evenThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. In the former, players usually had a choice between being a literal paragon of virtues or a total renegade who did not care about anything besides their own goals. Both paths were fun and resulted in different things happening in the world, as well as greatly affected the player’s standing with various other characters.

In the latter game, many players are likely familiar with the consequences of one’s actions, be they the result of getting caught stealing or accidentally killing a chicken in view of a town guard. In sometimes hilariously exchanges with NPCs, players inTheElder Scrollsgames likeSkyrimcan even rack up a ridiculously huge bounty if they commit enough crimes, allowing for a very different kind of fantasy RPG experience where one is almost always on the run from authorities.

Biomutantis available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
