Titus Welliver has played Harry Bosch for nearly a decade now, originally portraying him inBoschon Amazon Prime for seven successful seasons. He was an LAPD detective who became obsessed with the many cases he took on, and had to navigate the bureaucracy in the police department, led by Chief Irvin Irwing, who he constantly butted heads with.
Amazonannounced that Bosch would come to an end after seven seasons, and the ending of the show saw the titular detective walk out on the police department he dedicated his life and career to, with the final scene seeing him register as a private investigator. This is whenBosch: Legacywas born, and Michael Connelly’s later books would now be the focus moving forward, as Bosch embarked on his new career outside the restraints of the police department. His daughter, Maddie joined the LAPD as a rookie cop, which confirmed the new series would still involve plenty ofpolice drama.
What happens in Bosch: Legacy season 1?
Harry Bosch has left thecrime actionof the LAPD behind, and has been working as a private investigator. He is tapped up to investigate a personal issue by billionaire, Whitney Vance. This issue involves tracking down a woman Vance impregnated in college to see if he has an heir to his fortune. Maddie is now a rookie cop in the LAPD and deals with some harsh realities of the job.
Honey Chandler is still recovering from her attempted murder at the end of the last season, and attends the trial of Carl Rogers, who was responsible for her attack. It ends in a mistrial, and she goes back to work on a case of a homeless man accused of killing a doctor. She enlists Bosch to take a look into the case and testify to his findings. Bosch finds out the woman who might be Vance’s heir is now dead. An earthquake damages Bosch’s iconic apartment, leading to the P.I having to move.
There are a lot of moving parts in Season one, and one of which sees Maddie Bosch investigating a rapist who wears a luchador mask when carrying out his attacks. Her investigation leads her to a property inspector called Kurt Dockweiler. Maddie contacts him after finding his phone number on an inspection notice when trying to find out more information on the rapist. Dockweiler phones Maddie back, and claims he was totally unaware of the rapes, but then looks her up on the internet.
As the season progresses, the Vance case takes an unexpected turn as the billionaire dies, with murder being strongly suspected by Bosch. Also, the Carl Rogers case is resolved. He gets involved with the Russian mafia which proves to be his undoing. He is gunned down by the Ivanovich family, after a failed attempt to use a shipping container to escape to Vietnam. Chandler watches on as Rogers enters a shipping container where he is met with a grisly end.
How does Bosch: Legacy season 1 end?
Bosch and Chandler question a woman called Ida Porter, who was Whitney Vance’s carer. She admits to murdering Vance. She reveals that she was writing letters for Vance in his later years. Despite caring for him all this time, he gave her nothing in the will, which upset her greatly. She is detained after the confession.
A man called Shipman assassinates Dr Basu after realizing what he was doing in Chandler’s case, and Bosch hands over proof to Detective Gustafsson, who is the lead detective working on the case. Chandler tells Bosch that Shipman has been caught, and her client, Jeffrey Herstadt is no longer a suspect.
Meanwhile, Bosch tricks an assassin into thinking Vance’s potential heir, Vibiana and her son are at the late billionaire’s residence, and during a gunfight, the assassin is killed. Chandler then launches a petition to investigate the presidency of Whitney Vance, and DNA proves Vibiana and her son’s link to Vance.
While this is going on, Maddie tries to save the life of a man who is dying from a gunshot wound in front of her. She calls her father as she is struggling with the ordeal, but he fails to answer which causes her concern. He is in the middle of trying to save Vibiana and her son from the assassin.
In aplot twist, at an art exhibit at the end of the final episode, Maddie doesn’t show up, leading Harry to stop by her home to check on her. She doesn’t answer the door, so he kicks down the door and fails to find her after searching the place. He goes into her bedroom and sees that a screen in one of her windows has been cut. Has Maddie been kidnapped? And if so, by whom? Earlier in the episode, the rapist appeared to be hiding in her apartment, which implies that she has been kidnapped by him. The answers to this cliffhanger lie ahead in Season 2.

Bosch: Legacy picks up where the original Bosch series left off, with the titular detective leaving the LAPD and going into business as a private investigator. Titus Welliver reprises his role as Harry Bosch, along with Mimi Rogers and Madison Lintz. Both shows are based on the novels by author Michael Connelly.
