Summary
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomhas been out for over a year now, giving players plenty of time to beat the main story and seek out every weapon and piece of armor. For those running out of things to do, someZeldafans might want to return to, or try for the first time,Breath of the Wild, the game’s predecessor, which originally released on the Nintendo Switch over seven years ago.
Since there’s a vast difference in content betweenTears of the KingdomandBreath of the Wild, those who are more familiar with the sequel can’t rely on all their knowledge to help with its predecesor. Particularly when facing boss battles, these arethe weapons inBreath of the Wildthat shouldn’t be taken for granted, and saved for just the right moment.

Description
The abilities of this Guardian sword have been boosted to the maximum, as evidenced by its increase in size. It slices through armor like a hot knife through butter!
Location
Ancient Shrines (Guardian Scouts)
Guardian Gear should be very valuable to players, as it can only be acquiredby completing certain Ancient Shrines. Some Shrines contain Tests of Strength, in which Link has to defeat a Guardian Scout of varying levels. While these challenges can test the player’s acquired weapons and armor, they reap rewards in Guardian materials, as well as dropped weapons.
For players who are able to defeat a Guardian Scout IV in a Major Test of Strength, they’ll be rewarded with several high-level weapons, including aGuardian Sword++. These weapons are quite useful for players when encountering bosses, since they’re immune to lightning and are flame-retardant, but they can be tough to come by, so best not waste them on Stalkoblins.

White-haired Lynels favor this brutal spear. Its axe-like spearhead and exceptional weight give it absolute destructive power.
White-haired Lynels, Silver Lynels, Golden Lynels (Gerudo Highlands, Hebra Mountains)
It takes quite an experienced playerto successfully defeat any Lynel, let alone ones stronger than typical red-maned or blue-maned Lynels. The three highest level Lynels are capable of dropping some pretty powerful weapons, categorized asSavage Lynel weapons. While the Savage Lynel Crusher and Savage Lynel Sword are useful options, theSavage Lynel Spearis a keeper.
In particular, the Savage Lynel Spear is fast and slightly more durable than its short sword and greatsword counterparts. With charged attacks, players will do heaps of damage without having to worry about the weapon breaking mid-attack (though that is an inevitability with breakable weapons). After defeating a Lynel, it’d be wise not to put this spear to good use against a Boss.

The blade of this sword was made using an ancient power lost to this modern age. Its blade appears only when drawn, and its cutting power surpasses metal swords.
Cherry in Akkala Ancient Tech Lab
Ancient Gear is a rare commodity inBreath of the Wild. Whether they’re Ancient Arrows or theAncient Short Sword, these weapons are notable for being highly-effective against Guardians, some of the toughest enemies in the game. Similarly, Ancient weapons are also incredibly powerful against Blight Ganons, who are fought after freeing each Divine Beast.
However, these weapons can only be acquired after lighting the Ancient Furnace at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, activating the robot Cherry, and spending Ancient materials on forging each one, which can be quite a time sink. It’s recommended that players forge the Ancient Short Sword, since it can be paired with a shield to keep Link safe from telegraphed boss attacks.

A legendary greatsword forged by a Goron craftsman for a hero who traveled through time. The exceptionally sharp cutting edge is a testament to the craftsman’s mastery.
Ocarina of TimeLink amiibo (Random Chance)
VeteranZeldafans will recall thatBreath of the Wildis not the debut of this weapon.Biggoron originally appeared in the Nintendo 64 gameThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and he bestows players with a sword named after him that’s even stronger than the Master Sword, but only after completing a quest. Thanks to amiibo functionality,Biggoron’s Swordmakes a return inBreath of the Wild.
If players happen to possess theOcarina of TimeLink amiibo, there’s a random chance that a Treasure Chest will contain Biggoron’s Sword. However, once this weapon breaks, players will only be able to gain another by using their amiibo once a day and hoping for a duplicate. It may not be the smoothest weapon, but its raw strength is incomparable to other weapons in the game.

The Six Sages are said to have forged this longsword to seal a demon king in the world where the hero fought against the beasts of twilight. The blade shines with a holy luster.
Super Smash Bros.Ganondorf amiibo (Random Chance)
Those who playedTwilight Princesswill recognize this weapon as belonging to Ganondorf, who stole it from the Six Sages during his execution. However, the weapon can be wielded by Link inBreath of the Wild, although, like Biggoron’s Sword, it can only be obtained by hoping for a randomized drop with the Ganondorf fromSuper Smash Brosfor Wii Uamiibo.
With great strength and durability, theSword of the Six Sagesis a great option for Boss fights that will make players feel just a little more epic when theydefeat different iterations of Calamity Ganonwith his own sword. The weapon even glows in the dark, which will be especially useful when battling Bosses that appear at night, like the Stalnox.

N/A (Limited Charge)
The legendary sword that seals the darkness. Its blade gleams with a sacred luster that can oppose the Calamity. Only a hero chosen by the sword itself may wield it.
Korok Forest
The Master Swordis the most iconic weapon in theZeldafranchise, so it makes sense that players would prefer to use it as often as possible. However, it’s also the only weapon inBreath of the Wildthat cannot break, instead losing its charge after a certain amount of uses. This means that players can’t just go swinging it around willy-nilly, especially in the build-up to a Boss fight.
Thankfully, there are ways for players to strengthen the Master Sword, such as wielding it in dungeons or near Malice. In its Awakened state, the Master Sword will deal a whopping 60 damage, compared to its normal power of 40. It can also fire a sword beam when Link is at full health, though this might be a tricky benefit to take advantage of in difficult Boss battles.
