Although the introduction ofCall of Duty: Warzonemight be the biggest thing grabbing the attention ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers right now, it’s not the only thing Infinity Ward added to the game today. The latest ofModern Warfare’s weekly updates dropped today, and among the various changes it brings are a few noticeable changes to one of the game’s most notorious weapons, the 725 shotgun.
It wasn’t long after the game launched last year that players discovered how ridiculously overpowered this gun was at first. A perfect storm of balancing issues resulted in a short-range weapon that, evenafter Infinity Ward nerfed it, could effectively snipe players from a fair distance, to the frustration of players who soon got tired of running into 725s everywhere.

After numerous attempts over the first few weeks of the game’s lifespan, Infinity Ward eventually managed tobalance the 725, and now, with Season 2 well underway, the developer has adjusted the weapon once again. Specifically, it has tweaked the weapon’s Sawed-Off Barrel attachment to reduce its damage and accuracy when aiming down sights, on top of reducing its far damage range. Balancing out the nerfs, though, are increases to movement speed and maximum close-range damage, so Sawed-Off 725 users should still be able to hold their own in a close-quarters fight, even if ADS is less effective than it was before.
In addition to the Sawed-Off 725, today’s update also made a few changes to some of the game’s other weapons. The RAM-7 and Grau 5.56 assault rifles received fixes to bugs that prevented the ability to attach sniper scopes and caused graphical issues, respectively, while another fix addressed theglitch that let the Model 680 shotgun shoot forever. Lastly, the Bludgeoner LMG and Skull Hammer shotgun have both received updates to their ammo descriptions.
No doubt there will be more fixes of this kind released in the coming weeks and months.Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis a constantly-changing game, after all, and glitches of some kind or other have remained a constant presence since launch. More issues will inevitably affect at least some of the new weapons Infinity Ward is designing for the game at this rate, though hopefully not to the same degree as the 725 did.
