Call of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers are hungry for new maps. After the recent release of Vacant and Shipment,Modern Warfareplayers can’t help thinking about what’s coming next. It doesn’t help that leakers are believed to have shared a lengthy list of upcoming maps, either. Nevertheless, one attentiveModern Warfareplayer has provided substantive evidence of what could be Infinity Ward’s next map. And it isn’t aModern Warfare 2map like some may have expected.
The new map is another classic fromCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It’s named Overgrown and surprisingly hasn’t been updated for any otherCall of Dutygame other thanCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Overgrown is a large multiplayer map with a lot of open space, but also a lot of opportunities for cover. It’s set on a farm, replete with barn, fields, hay bales, and so on. Overgrown makes for a great sniper map given the low verticality and impressive sightlines.

As for why Overgrown is believed to be one ofModern Warfare’s next maps, it’s rather simple. A Reddit user named iMarty529 posted a short clip to theModern Warfaresubreddit from the Spec Ops Mission titled Harbinger. In the clip, iMarty529 gives a tour of one of the houses on the map. Perhaps not coincidentally, the house has the exact layout of “Grandma’s House” fromCall of Duty 4: Modern WarfareandCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
InModern Warfare, all Spec Ops and Ground War maps take place in a single, larger map. Leaks and speculation indicate this larger map is actually a battle royale map that’s gone unused, for now. Like withBlack Ops 4’s Blackoutbattle royale map,Modern Warfare’s map is pieced together of smaller locations that reference past maps in the franchise. That could imply that a location like Grandma’s House is just a fun reference, or it could confirm that Overgrown is in Infinity Ward’s plans.
For the time being,Modern Warfareplayers may have to wait a while yet to find out Infinity Ward’s next plans.Modern Warfareis currently going through itsfirst season of post-launch content. Season One started on December 3 and while an official end date hasn’t been announced, it’s predicted to be at the end of January. If Overgrown or any other new maps are coming, expect news around February 2020.
