Call of Duty Modern Warfareis still going strong after its release late last year as one of the strongest competitors in the first person shooter market. It was already one of thebest multiplayer gameslast year, but because of the developers' commitment to keeping the game alive with constant updates, it is still a changing experience for dedicated fans. Over time, maps have been added, guns have been balanced, and features have been changed to makeModern Warfarevery different than it was at launch.

It was meant to end on January 28th, butSeason 1 has been extended into February. This is probably in order to get Season 2 good and ready and iron out many of the bugs that a rushed season launch can bring about. However, it feels like an eternity to those who have become accustomed to getting new content relatively rapidly. Many players have already unlocked everything they wanted in Season 1 and are now tapping their toes in anticipation.

As of now,Modern Warfareis feeling a little stagnant for many fans. The tail end of Season 1 has stretched on longer than anticipated, and relatively few changes aside from bug fixes have graced the game with their presence. As fans count the days until Season 2, there are a lot of ideas floating around about what should be added toModern Warfare, as well as predictions about what will actually make it into the game next.

Maps

There are plenty ofmaps thatModern Warfareplayers want, but the ones in hottest demand are fromModern Warfare 2. Season 1 had maps fromCoD 4: Modern Warfare, and many players have high hopes that Season 2’s maps will be from the secondModern Warfaregame. Sub Base, Rush, Scrapyard, and Highrise are all at the front of players' minds, but which of them will be remade is a matter of speculation.

Rust will likely be inModern Warfareat least, but many players are also pushing for all new maps. It is true that many of these classic maps deserve some modernized love, but long-time fans have been playing those same maps for twelve years. Newly designed maps like Shoot House have become fan-favorites inModern Warfare, even though many of the larger maps were a point of contention early on after the game’s release.

In addition tonew maps for 6v6and 10v10 multiplayer matches, it would also be wise forModern Warfareto add at least one new ground war map and a few gunfight maps. Ground War is a great game mode, but it suffers from a lack of interesting arenas to fight it out in. On the other hand, gunfight has quite a few maps, but as one of the most fun game modes it deserves all the attention the developers can give.

Guns

Any new season of updates and battle pass would be remiss to exclude the addition of new guns. Even though thecrossbow was added toModern Warfareto placate players who are hankering for new weapons, it isn’t the same as getting a slew of new guns to play with. There is some disagreement on what should be added, however. Some nostalgic fans wish for classic weapons that they loved in previousCall of Dutytitles, while many others want some new weapons to play with.

One of the most enticing new weapons would be the Vector, which has already been leaked for some time. However, balancing existing weapons and adding new attachments could be just as important as adding new guns. The weapons added in Season 1 were some of thestrongest guns inModern Warfare, but there are a lot of changes that should be made to make more guns competitive. Likewise, adding a classic ACOG sight or other attachments could breathe new life into old weapons.

Features

Plenty of fan-requested features have been added toModern Warfare, like more custom loadouts or fan-favorite playlists. Some quality of life improvements have yet to be adressed though, like arematch featureor the ability to filter maps. New and better perks would be a welcome improvement, while new game modes have the potential to refresh existing maps. Skill based matchmaking is probably the most egregious issue with the game that hasn’t seen any improvement.

The addition of abattle royale game mode inModern Warfareis one of the several features that have been leaked since the very start, but still hasn’t shown any signs of rearing its long-awaited head in the game. It may be a lot longer before it is added though, as the developers likely want to perfect it before rolling it out. Even so, if it isn’t added at some point in 2020 it would be a pretty massive shock.

Predictions

Out of all the things that players want to see inModern Warfare, it is likely that only a few will be added in Season 2. There are plentymoreModern Warfareseasons coming this yearthat will see their own updates and changes, but whatModern Warfarefans will see in the immediate future is a matter of much speculation. It is almost certain that new guns will be included, and gun balancing will be a must to placate the player base, but there are some clues as to what other content will be added as well.

It is almost certain thatModern Warfare 2maps will be the main focus of Season 2, if only because of the focus on the firstModern Warfaretitle in Season 1. Likewise, continued spec ops missions and another Ground War map are all but assured. No matter what, Season 2 should include a large amount of content because of the delays in releasing it. At the very least, it isn’t too much to expect that it will be less buggy than the current season.
