Call of Duty: Vanguardis no stranger to a variety of issues both expected and not, but one of the more annoying problems that rears its head every so often, according to players, is same-team collisions. Namely, the community is now asking for developers to disable friendly player collision entirely to avoid getting stuck in doorways and such.
As it currently stands, each player character in a match ofCall of Duty: Vanguardhas their own collision box, meaning that other players, friendly or not, can’t simply pass through them, if they want or need to do so. It’s a simple and sensible feature, but it also means that friendly players cannot shoot through one another, nor can they move ahead through a doorway if a friendly is ends up blocking it.

Players are citing major gameplay issues that can crop up due to the presence of friendly collisions, such as getting stuck in spawn areas, getting killed because another player is blocking the only viable passage through, and a variety of other similar problems. Some are even team-killing friendlies that cause these traffic jams in the first place, simply due to the fact that there’s no way to go around them in some cases, and players want this issue added to the list ofmuch-needed fixes forCall of Duty: Vanguard.
With recent reports indicating that theannual release schedule forCall of Dutyis being contested, odds are that the developers will need to dig in and keep deploying fixes forVanguardover a longer period of time. Curiously, some players recalled thatCall of Duty: Black Ops - Cold Warhad these same problems persisting for a while, though friendly collisions did end up getting disabled eventually.
It’s worth pointing out that the possible future launch ofGround War inCall of Duty: Vanguardwould bring these problems into even greater focus with a larger portion of players. Since positioning is key, and choke points always end up being highly contested, frustrations with how friendly player collisions currently work may turn into a major concern. Riot shields, in particular, currently deflect both friendly and enemy projectiles, which is bad news for groups of players attempting to work together to defend a location.
In addition, the game has a whole array of other issues that should to be resolved sooner, rather than later. One of these bugs, for example, is the one whereattack dogs float away inVanguard, leading to unintentional mid-match hilarity when it happens. It’s far from the potential deal-breaker that friendly collision problems can end up being, but it sure does break down any semblance of immersion, too.
Call of Duty: Vanguardis now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series platforms.
