Some fans ofCall of Duty:Warzone 2are tired of the fast TTK of short-range engagements within the massively popular battle royale. WhileCall of Dutyhas always been known for an unforgiving TTK, some feel the current balance inWarzone 2gives whoever fires first too much of an advantage.
The honeymoon phase of February 15’s Season 2 update forWarzone 2is now over, and players are tallying their critiques with Activision’s free-to-play battle royale. While the return of Resurgence mode has been met with applause, there are concerns surrounding balance in the game mode, and theunderwhelming release ofWarzone 2’s crossbow. While Activision has shown it can react fluidly to player feedback, some fans feel the game is moving in the wrong direction, and are concerned that the game’s updates are fixated on issues that were not broken in the first place, such as the much-derided armor break message.

A post on Reddit has highlighted some of the chiefconcerns players have regardingWarzone 2in its current state. User Kejzu, who submitted the post, laments that the game has devolved into a “who sees the other person first wins” contest where scouting, positioning, and occasionally dumb luck take precedence over movement and marksmanship. While low TTK has always been a hallmark of theCall of Dutyfranchise,Warzone 2ideally should allow players to react when in an enemy’s sights. While the pace should not fall to plodding, a fairly balanced battle royale has players able to counter being on the wrong side of an engagement, seeking cover to heal their wounds, or simply fleeing to find a fight with better odds. In its current state,Warzone 2all too often comes down to who fired first, and fans are growing weary of the game’s coin-flip nature.
The post on Reddit became a springboard for upset fans toair their other grievances withWarzone 2.The game’s spotty audio and poor tick rate were leading criticisms along with the current TTK. While the general mood was pessimistic, there were some fans who offered solid advice for players struggling within the current meta. Running the high alert perk, which gives a visual indicator when an enemy has a player in their sights, coupled with smoke grenades, has been promising for some as a way to escape disadvantaged engagements and live to fight another battle.
WhileWarzone 2is still relatively early in its life cycle, fans are justifiably concerned about the direction the game is headed. While it is far from too late to right the ship, it would seem Activision has its work cut out for them if it wantsWarzone 2to be held in the same esteem as its predecessor.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
