Call of Duty: Warzoneis getting festive, albeit a little bit early, for the upcoming 4th of July celebration. The lobby has been updated ahead of time in order to get playersfeeling patriotic for Independence Day, and so far it seems most fans are enjoying the small change.
This isn’t the first time the lobby ofCall of Duty: Warzonehas changed, and it likely won’t be the last. This gives developers a relatively easy way to add in small touches here or there to the game as a nod to current events or upcoming holidays.

The update adds a formation of planes which fly above the player’s head dropping fireworks into the sky. Though it is a relatively small gesture, it’s certainly fun. Players likely won’t spend a ton of timestaring at the fireworks, but there may be other additions planned for the holiday coming soon.
Call of Duty: Warzonemade secret changes to its in-game lobbyrecently, although these affected the in-game lobby and were actually mechanical in nature. These changes made it so that players could no longer kill each other while waiting for the game to start to get bonus experience, a shift which was likely made to ease the burden of having people die and drop in repeatedly. By contrast, the 4th of July changes made to the matchmaking lobby are purely cosmetic as far as anyone knows, and they clearly weren’t meant to be much of a secret given how noticeable they are.
It is possible, however, that other4th of July easter eggshave been added into the game that players haven’t noticed yet. Infinity Ward has favored a more incognito approach when it comes to updates and hinting at the future of the game, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if there were some other hidden features to promote the U.S. holiday. Many ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s characters are from the United States canonically, so it would make sense for them to want to get involved in celebrating the holiday.
Players should be able to see the4th of July changesby simply hanging out in the lobby long enough. Before long, a plane will fly overhead and drop explosives fireworks into the sky. Players should be on the lookout as the 4th of July approaches for any other changes that were made.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
