Cyberpunk 2077is one of the year’s most highly anticipated titles. In a recent interview, CD Projekt Red Producer John Mamais talked about the development of the game, DLC, and interestingly enough, the idea ofCyberpunk 2077one day making its way to Nintendo Switch.

As of right now, there are no plans for a Nintendo Switch version ofCyberpunk 2077.But that doesn’t necessarily mean that a port won’t arrive at a later date. The Witcher 3saw a Switch port releaserecently to strong overall reviews, and many, including John Mamias, thought it might not have been possible.

Mamias mentioned thatCyberpunk 2077may not work on the Nintendo Switch, as it may be too heavy of a title. But there were similar doubts withThe Witcher 3, and CD Projekt Red pulled it off.Cyberpunk 2077was delayed earlier in the year and some rumors sprouted up that this was due to the performance of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.CD Projekt Red has since denied those reports, which would help the case for the game possibly being able to squeeze onto the Switch.

The first party line-up for the Nintendo Switch is undeniable, with massive hits likeThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey,Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Pokemon SwordandPokemon Shield.Just recently theSwitch hit a massive sales milestone of 30 million unitsin less than three years, which is more than the Xbox One is estimated to have accomplished in seven years.

Another very strong area for software sales for the Switch has been the indie support. Whether it’s brand new titles or ports finding a new home on the console/handheld hybrid, smaller titles seem to play wonderfully on the Switch. Nintendo knows how to optimize its own games wonderfully, with some of the best looking titles on the market being first-party Nintendo software. And indie games don’t often need that extra performance. This may be why Nintendo has decided toforego launching a Nintendo Switch Pro in 2020.

That being said, whether it be on a future Nintendo Switch Pro, or somehow jammed into a cartridge and playable on the current Switch, likeThe Witcher 3, it would be very fun to playCyberpunk 2077on the go on a Nintendo Switch.

Cyberpunk 2077will be released on July 03, 2025, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
