Fans of CD Projekt Red are currently struggling with the announcement of yet another delay forCyberpunk 2077. The open-world RPG was delayed an additional two months, from September to November this past week. The wait forCyberpunk 2077has already been intolerable and now it’ll last that much longer, but CD Projekt Red is doing what it can to make the wait a little less painful, as this week there will be a special Night City Wire presentation. But the most recent revelation is the announcement of a brand newCyberpunk 2077comic book.

CD Projekt Red is partnering with comic publisherDark Horseto releaseCyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team. The Traum Team series will run for four issues, with the first issue releasing September 9 for $39.99. The book is written by Cullen Bunn, best known for hisDeadpoolandCaptain Americawork at Marvel, as well as his independent booksHarrow CountyandThe Sixth Gun. The artist will be Miguel Valderrama, who previously did the bookGiantsfor Dark Horse.

Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Teamwill tell the story of Nadia, who is an assistant EMT for the Trauma Team International business. Nadia alone survives what’s described as a “failed rescue mission turned shootout,” so she builds up a new team for an even more dangerous extraction mission. Obviously, there’s more to being an EMT inNight Citythan one might think.

IfCyberpunk 2077: Trauma Teamis directly related to the game in any way, it isn’t obvious. The story very likely takes place in Night City, too, but otherwise, there’s no confirmed connecting characters or story, yet. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nadia or other characters from the comic show up inCyberpunk 2077’s storyor vice versa.

ConsideringCyberpunk 2077’s release dateboth before and after the delay, it seems likely thatCyberpunk 2077: Trauma Teamwas supposed to launch alongside the game, asTrauma Teamwould come out on September 9, andCyberpunk 2077would come out on September 17. The delay stops that, putting the comic’s release in a bit of an awkward spot. PerhapsTrauma Teamwill move faster than a monthly release so that all four issues come out prior to the game’s November launch.

Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Teamwill hopefully be a way for fans to make the wait a little bit less harsh. While the game won’t be out in September, comic book’s first issue will be. It’ll prove a tantalizing introduction to Night City and hopefully a great story, too.

Cyberpunk 2077releases on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One on November 19, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X this holiday.
