Developer Behaviour Interactive has announced that the popular 4v1 horror gameDead by Daylightis heading to next gen consoles this week, just in time for the launch of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Current players ofDead By Daylightwill also be able to carry over progress from the older consoles to next gen versions when they make the jump. The new iterations ofDead by Daylightwill support 4K and run at 60fpson next gen consoles as well as take advantage of the faster loading capabilities.
The next gen versions ofDead by Daylightare launching as part of the developer’s new initiative for the game titled The Realm Beyond, whereDead By Daylightwill see a number of improvements as a whole. On top of a revamp of the game’s graphics, Behaviour Interactive is also working on overhauling the maps of the game with tweaks made to improve the overall experience. Behaviour Interactive will alsosupport cross-platform play forDead by Daylighton the next gen consoles with current gen.
In addition, characters in the game will also be revamped with a new visual overhaul, better animations, and an improved VFX. The aim of The Realm Beyond is to reinvigorate the game with more to do so expect more interactive elements on existing maps, helping break the routine.
SinceDead by Daylight’s initial launch in 2016, the game has received several chapter expansions focusing on classic horror villains such as Michael Myers, Leatherface, and Freddy Krueger. Each new chapter includes new perks and player characters alongside villains, like therecently releasedSilent Hillchapterthat put players in control of the titular Pyramind Head andSilent Hill 3protagonist Cheryl Mason.
2021 will mark the 5th anniversary ofDead by Daylightso players can expect some big additions to the game along withThe Realm Beyond projectin the coming year along with new horror icons, more game play improvements, and some new creative ways to kill their friends.
Dead by Daylightis available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions launching alongside the consoles.
