Dead by Daylightrecently teased its Chapter 21 killer with a cryptic teaser that had many fans scratching their heads. The teaser showed TV static and not much else, leading to rampant speculation about theChapter 21 killer’s identity. Now Behaviour Interactive has pulled the curtain back, confirming that the newDead by Daylightkiller is none other than Pinhead from theHellraiserhorror film franchise.
Pinhead from Hellraiser, known as The Cenobite inDead by Daylight, is now available to play in the Public Test Build (PTB) and will be added to the proper game at some point in the near future. Like other licensedDead by Daylightkillers, Pinhead appears to be quite accurate to his film appearance, and he even has some voice lines that are pulled straight from the movies as well. Reaction to Pinhead seems positive so far, so it will be interesting to see how the rest of theDead by Daylightcommunity reacts when he’s added to the full game.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the character,Pinhead is from theHellraiserfranchise, itself based on Clive Barker’sThe Hellbound Heart. Pinhead is the leader of the Cenobites, which are demonic creatures that specialize in horrifically torturing people that happen to solve their twisted puzzle boxes. Pinhead was a horror movie icon of the 1980s, much like many of the other licensed characters onDead by Daylight’s roster, thoughHellraiserfilms continue to be released to this day.
The addition of Pinhead fromHellraisertoDead by Daylight’s roster of killers is no doubt exciting news for fans of the asymmetric multiplayer horror game. He will be joining a lineup of killers that includeMichael Myers fromHalloween, Freddy fromA Nightmare on Elm Street, and plenty of completely originalDead by Daylightkillers as well.
WhileDead by Daylight’s roster has only grown since launch, there’s always potential for these licensed characters to be removed from the game eventually. That’s the case with theDead by DaylightStranger ThingsDLC, as The Demogorgon killer and Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington survivors are all being pulled from sale come November 17. Anyone that purchases the characters before their removal date will still get to use them, though the Hawkins National Laboratory lab will be removed fromDead by Daylightentirely.
Since Pinhead is just now joining theDead by Daylightroster of killers, fans shouldn’t have to worry about him leaving the game anytime soon.
Dead by Daylightis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
