Soon afterDead Island 2players start their adventures, they will come across various doors and mirrors, but despite the frequency of these items, there’s an aspect of them that fans aren’t happy with. Because Dambuster Studios only just releasedDead Island 2on April 21, there may be some things that get changed through updates, and one may be based on this fan feedback.
Dead Island 2sold over 1 million copies for its launch weekend, potentially leading to a renaissance for the series and other future zombie games. Fans of theDead Islandseries have been waiting for therelease ofDead Island 2for several years, but some are still waiting for a slight change to improve the quality of their gameplay. Drawing inspiration from features that already exist like in other zombie games likeDead Rising 4,State of Decay 2, and even the prequel toDead Island 2, some fans have an idea on how to make doors and mirrors better.

Reddit user Woodland91 has gained over 100 upvotes on a text post imploring Dambuster Studios to fix a visibleDead Island 2problem where players aren’t able to close the door behind them as they could in the original game. Beyond the doors, another Reddit user suggested that Dambuster Studios makes mirrors reflecttheDead Island 2charactersand environment around them rather than a warped perspective of the room that excludes the player. The way things currently are,Dead Island 2players aren’t able to protect themselves by holding up in a room after closing the doors behind them, and some have attempted to walk through mirrors because of their strange appearance.
There are multiple zombie games that have been released in which players can close doors to put a barrier between them and the undead such asDays Gone,State of Decay 2, and even the originalDead Island.Dambuster Studios’Dead Island 2currently fails to meet this standard. ThoughDead Island 2won’t show players their character in a mirror’s reflection, it isn’t the only zombie game to omit this feature, asDying Lightshared the same problem, andState of DecayandDayZhave chosen to blur these objects. Mirrors are rarely an important aspect of zombie games that mostly focus on survival, butDead Risingfans could check their unique outfits out in various mirrors, and recentResident Eviltitles are properly reflective as well.
Becausethe firstDead Islandhad some bugs associated with the doors in the game, Dambuster Studios may be trying to avoid the same growing pains by optimizing door mechanics before allowing players to not just open them, but close them as well. As someDead Island 2updates may be expected in the future to iron out launch bugs that may have been discovered by other players, fans may see a change to doors and mirrors, but it remains unclear how long that would take.
Dead Island 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
