It’s been about eight years since the last time aDead Spacegame released, yet fans of the survival-horror series are still holding out up for a comeback. While EA has shown little to no interest in theDead Spacefranchise in recent years, it’s possible that could change soon. A rumor making the rounds online has suggested that aDead Spacerevival of some sort could very well be in the cards for the EA Play event on July 22.

As reported by VGC, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb recently teased that EA would be revealing a new game at the EA Play event on July 22. Grubb believes the game is going to be from “an established IP” and “we’re going to see it…if we’re not dead first.” This line in particular has led to speculation that EA could very well be revealing anewDead Spacegameof some description at the EA Play event, possible developed byStar Wars: Squadronsstudio EA Motive.

It’s possible that fans are looking too much into this and EA has no plans for aDead Spacerevival. But if EA is bringing backDead Space, one has to wonder what form it will take. The most obvious route would be aDead Spaceremasteror a collection of the original trilogy of games, enhanced for modern consoles in the same way that EA brought back the originalMass Effectgames. Alternatively, maybe fans will get a full-blownDead Spacesequel announced at EA Play.

Again, it’s possible that Grubb is referring to something completely different and so fans should keep that in mind. ADead Spaceremaster has been rumored before, but nothing substantial has come of it. Diehard fans of the franchise may want to keep their expectations in check, but should still tune in to theEA Play eventon July 22 just in case the company does indeed unveil a newDead Spaceproject at the show.

A newDead Spacegame would likely steal the show at EA Play, but there are other titles that fans can likely look forward to seeing at the event as well. EA Sports will almost certainly have its lineup of sports titles on display, plus there will likely be somenews onBattlefield 2042as well. So even ifDead Spaceis a no-show, the event may still be worth watching for fans of EA’s games.
