But recent speculation suggests that another actor from the cast ofLoganmight make their way into the MCU.
Recently,Keenuploaded a picture of herself from the set ofLogan. In the picture, Keen shares the frame with Jackman and the director, James Mangold. Although the picture can be just a little throwback to the fun times she had while shooting the film, it has stimulated speculations thatKeen might return as X-23 inDeadpool 3. Rumors of X-23’s return were reported months ago, but Marvel Studios has not confirmed these reports.
Keen’s version of Laura, aka X-23, debuted inLoganas Wolverine’s biological daughter (she was created with Logan’s DNA), and fans hoped to see her return for future projects. However, her story couldn’t move forward because Disney acquired Fox. As a result, Marvel Studios decided to revamp the entire franchise and introduce mutants in their way. Even though fans haven’t seen an MCU movie solely based on mutants,Deadpool 3could be a perfect way to bring mutants to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last year, the production giant gave viewers a glimpse at mutants by introducingBeast inThe Marvels' post-credits scene. On the other hand,She-Hulkhad already hinted at Wolverine being a part of the MCU with a news headline saying, “Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl.” So, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Keen’s X-23 to appear inDeadpool 3and take Laura’s story forward.
Deadpool and Wolverineis the only Marvel Studios' 2024 movie release. Phase 5 hasn’t been so good for the MCU, with movies likeAnt-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaandThe Marvelsunderperforming at the box office. So, a lot of hope rides onDeadpool 3, and with Jackman’s involvement in the movie, fans expect the film to be a massive success. TheDeadpool 3trailer received praise from the fans, but the film’s real test will occur when it opens in theaters.
