Fans of the popular anime seriesDemon Slayerwere treated to a new trailer for the upcoming video game adaptation during Sony’s July 2021 State of Play. This newDemon Slayer: The Hinokami Chroniclestrailer focused on the game’s combat and stared the characters Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu battling the Drum Demon in Tsuzumi Mansion.
Developers CyberConnect2 has made a name for itself by creating some of the best-looking anime video games out there, such asDragon Ball Z: Kakarotand theNaruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Stormseries. The developer is now bringingthe successfulDemon Slayerfranchiseto life, and the game is due out later this year.

This newDemon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicletrailerpreviews the Tsuzumi Mansion arc, focusing on the battle between Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and the Drum Demon. The trailer begins with Tanjiro exploring the mansion seemingly follow the scent of demons and meeting a little girl while Zenitsu does his best to look after a small boy. Viewers then see Inosuke charging around the mansion’s corridors, which is very in character. These scenes are all glimpses at playable moments in the game and resemble other free-roaming stages seen in previous trailers for the game.
Battle then breaks out as Tanjiro moves to protect the little girl from the Drum demon, and Inosuke crashes into the room. Next, Zenitsu is shown using his Thunder Breathing while unconscious against another demon. Inosuke also clashes with a different demon, and his sword swings seem to be wider and heavier than Zenitsu’s.
The final scenes focus on Tanjiro fighting the Drum Demon while dodging waves of attacks and dealing with the room’s rotating. The trailer ends as Tanjiro lunges in for what looks to be the finishing blow. These three Demon Slayers have already been revealed to be playable, but at the time of writing, apart from Tanjiro’s sister Nezuko, noplayable demons have been announced forDemon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles.
This game will give fans of the original anime series and manga a chance to play through the story, including the recently released movie. Sega, the game’s publisher in the West, has clearly realized the excitement surrounding the game as there arethree different versions of theDemon Slayer: The Hinokami Chroniclesfor fans to preorder. Given CyberConnect2’s proven track record with anime games, fans have every right to be excited forDemon Slayer’s first, and probably not last, major console and PC game.
