Summary
Bungie has detailed the upcoming Exotic weapon changes arriving withDestiny 2Season 23. The developer had accidentally hinted towards some these changes last week, but a timeline for their arrival wasn’t mentioned; however, Bungie was quick to clarify that thesechanges will go live inDestiny 2Season 23.
Since the launch of the Lightfall DLC, Bungie has been making changes to the game across the board. For instance,Season of Defiance got a massive mid-season patchthat looked to balance a lot of the weapon archetypes. Following that, the team decided against raising the power level cap inDestiny 2Season 21, along with some other updates as well. As for the ongoing Season 22, Bungie made notable changes to several Exotic Armor pieces and Guardian abilities. Now, it has confirmed the upcoming Exotic weapon changes arriving with Season 23.
This was revealed via an official post on the Bungie website, which also mentioned that a majority of these weapon changes are being made bearing PvE activities in mind. To start off, the post detailed changes to four specific weapon archetypes: Auto-Rifles, Glaives, Sniper Rifles, and Pulse Rifles. While the changes being made to Auto-Rifles and Glaives include both buffs and nerfs, Pulse and Sniper Rifles are getting blanket buffs in PvE activities, which could make them potent weapons of choice inDestiny 2Season 23.
Furthermore, the post detailed the changes being made to several Exotic weapons. For instance, Vex Mythoclast is getting a massive PvE buff, where it will now deal 200% more damage to Champions while in Linear Fusion Rifle mode. Bungie outlined the exact details regarding theThorn Catalyst inDestiny 2, along with changes to the class-specific Exotic Glaives as well. Aside from these, Osteo Striga, Salvation’s Grip, Winterbite, and Revision zero are also getting a makeover to improve their viability in PvE activities. The developer also provided some insight into the updates that will arrive after Season 23, where Bows will be tuned for PvP and Heavy Grenade Launchers will receive “substantial inventory buffs.”
Besides these changes,Destiny 2Season 23 is also getting a boatload of PvP content, including a new Iron Banner mode called Tribute that will go live sometime during the season. In addition to this, Bungie is also adding Foundry Weapon focusing in Season 23, which will allow players to craft Hakke, Omolon, Veist, and Suros weapons.
Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
