Summary
The nextDestiny 2Dungeon releases December 1, Bungie has confirmed. The newly announced activity is thus set to debut during theunconventionally unveiledDestiny 2Season of the Wish, which is set to kick off in late November.
Originally introduced in the 2018 Forsaken expansion, Dungeons are a type ofDestiny 2activity that features unique bosses and even gameplay mechanics. They are hence similar to Raids and Raid Lairs, but shorter than the former and longer than the latter, requiring between one and several hours to complete, depending on the team. ThelatestDestiny 2Dungeon was Ghosts of the Deep, which launched in late May as part of Season 21, AKA the Season of the Deep.
Bungie saysit will follow up on that release with another Year-6 Dungeon that will be added toDestiny 2on Friday, December 1, at 9 AM PST. Its debut will thus arrive early on during the Season of the Wish, which is scheduled to start on November 28. Season 23 was initially planned to conclude on February 27, but might end up outlasting the game’s typical three-month content release cycle now that theDestiny 2: The Final Shapeexpansion was reportedly hit with a big delayand won’t be releasing until June 2024.
Bungie’s latest announcement did not reveal the upcoming Dungeon’s recommended Power level. For reference, the latest Lightfall Dungeon debuted with a Power level of 1,790. And while each of the game’s existing Dungeons raised its immediate predecessor’s level requirement on release, Bungie currently doesn’t have a lot of room for raising the upcoming activity’s difficulty compared to Ghosts of the Deep, which was already close to theDestiny 2Power level cap of 1,810.

Since there’s currently no indication that the developers plan to increase the level cap for Season of the Wish, the December 1 Dungeon will presumably have a Power level of either 1,800 or 1,810, given Bungie’s historical preference for using round numbers in this context. Other details about the newDestiny 2activity—including its name, bosses, and gameplay mechanics—are likely to be revealed by late November.
Apart from debuting the game’s eighth Dungeon to date,Destiny 2Season 23 will also revamp its Crucible menu by introducing a new 6v6 Quickplay node and reintroducing its 3v3 Quickplay counterpart. The latter will prioritize connection speed and latency during matchmaking in an effort to deliver a more seamless multiplayer experience, performance-wise. Each Crucible node will also feature different mode rotations starting with Season 23.
