Updated on August 06, 2025, by Huzaifa Haq:This guide has been refreshedto bring it up to date with the current Destiny 2 meta. This includes changing the Major Perks for both slots and adding content relating to the BRAVE update. Forbearance has returned to the weapon pool, carrying the same perks it did when it originally dropped. Additionally, it has a new perk that gives players the option to play with grenades. It’s a great weapon for PvE but doesn’t work as well in PvP. It remains a top weapon for crowd control, and the perk options reflect its purpose.
Why is Forbearance So Popular?
Forbearance’s popularity has a lot to do with the fact it is a wave frame grenade launcher. These are an incredibly popular archetype of grenade launchers for PVE, as they’re excellent for crowd control and clearing out rank-and-file enemies.
For those that might not know, wave frame grenade launchers are the ones that put a trail of energy on the ground starting at the spot of impact and extending forward. Forbearance is an arc elemental wave frame, but there is also the Solar-based Explosive Personality earnablein the Vox Obscura Exotic mission, the Void-based Harsh Language earned from Legendary engrams, the Stasis-basedNew Pacific Epitaph from Ghosts of the Deep, and finally the Strand-based Tusk of the Board from Iron Banner.
Major Perk Slot 2
The Original God Roll
The original version of Forbearance had the God Roll of Ambitious Assassin and Chain Reaction. This perk combination is also present on theBRAVE versionand is still as deadly as ever.
Ambitious Assassin overflows the magazine based on the number of rapid kills before reloading. On Grenade Launcher, if players get a kill after reloading the next weapon magazine size will always be 2.
Chain Reaction is great for Crowd Control as each final blow with the weapon having Chain Reaction creates an Elemental damage explosion. The kills with explosions can trigger further Elemental explosions.
Reload
Forbearance PvE God Roll
Wave Frame Grenade Launchers are not suited for single target damage or DPS, they are more kitted towards crowd control and clearing groups of combatants. Therefore, for Forbearance, we will be looking at perks that either provide crowd control or ability regeneration.
For the barrel option, players want to go with Hard Launch or Quick Launch, as both of these provide an increase to the Velocity stat of the weapon velocity, which is always beneficial. For the magazine option, High-Velocity Rounds is a clear choice.
In the left column of perks, we have Ambitious Assassin and Demolitionist as the best perk options. Demolitionist will work better as each kill with it generates Grenade Energy which will synergize extremely well with the Origin Trait present on Forbearance.
In the right column, we do not want any extra damage-dealing perks, so we are left with the choice of Wellspring and Chain Reaction. Wellspring provides extra ability energy on kills, whereas Chain Reaction provides crowd control thanks to its Elemental damage explosions.
