TheDiablo 4beta has proven to be incredibly successful, and a developer at Blizzard has explained the reasons why they believe this latest entry will be the best in the franchise.Diablo 4is scheduled to release on June 6, and despite some technical issues with the beta, it has received a generally positive reception as gamers express appreciation for its return to the grittier feeling of the first two games.

When the full game releases, players will have a lot to look forward to, given that the explorable area of theDiablo 4beta may have been only a small portion of the world map. The game will launch with five classes — Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorceress — all of which have been seen in previous entries in the series. But the character customization options have also given players the chance to bring popular personalities from other franchises into the game, likeGod of War’s Kratos and Shao Kahn fromMortal Kombat.

According to stats shared by Blizzard, theDiablo 4beta has been the largest in the series’ history, and the game’s general manager has recently stated that it is also the “bestDiabloof theDiablogames.” Speaking with PCGamesN, Rod Fergusson expressed his confidence in what the fourth mainline entry in the franchise has to offer. That’s a bold statement, considering thatDiablo 2: Lord of Destructionis considered by many to not only be the best game in the series, but also one of the best dungeon crawlers, period.

Fergusson says thatDiablo 4has the best storyof any of the games so far, which will appeal to people who feel a strong narrative is important. It also doesn’t require players to be familiar with the previous titles, making it accessible to both veterans and newcomers. And “for some reason,” according to the game’s general manager, people will care about the NPCs and the characters they meet; they’ll feel more immersed in the game world in a way they didn’t with the previous titles.

Diablo 4has managed to take all the strong points of the previous games and improve upon them, continues Fergusson in the interview. For example,Diablo 4features the “mechanical fluidness” ofDiablo 3’s combat, which many players appreciated, but also returns to the darker tone ofDiablo 1and2. But there have also been a number of things added to the upcoming action RPG, includingnew stats likeDiablo 4’s Overpower Damage, an enhanced Paragon system, new Legendary powers, an Evade system, and even reworked potions.
