As the firstMarvelNetflix show, the fans expected a lot fromDaredevil. And the series managed to deliver what it promised - an intelligent, sometimes dark, sometimes funny story with a sympathetic hero it was easy to cheer on. Combined with the solid acting performances, especially thanks to Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the show had a lot to offer and ran successfully for three seasons.

It worked even for those not familiar with the comics but the fans who regularly read comics and know them well might have noticed a lot of easter eggs in the series that gave it even more charm. Some of the best Marvel comic books orMCUeaster eggs inDaredevilwere difficult to spot and only die-hard Marvel fans noticed them, much to their enjoyment.
6Asano Robotics
At one point, Daredevil goes to the docks because he suspects that his enemies are transporting something important. It turns out it’s not something but someone - Black Sky is, in fact, a person! The scene mostly takes place in the dark and contains a lot of action. As such, it’s easy to miss that the container transporting Black Sky has Asano Robotics written on it.
Funnily enough, this comic book reference isn’t connected to Daredevil but another famous Marvel superhero: Iron Man himself! In the comics, the lesser-known Iron Man villainYoshida Asano owns the company Asano Robotics, and he’s determined to get his revenge on the USA after the events of World War Two.
5The Brother Named Mike
Leading a double life is no easy task as multiple superheroes have learned over the years. So did Matt Murdock who tried his best to separate his persona asMatt Murdock, the lawyer, and his persona as Daredevil, the superhero. One of Matt’s less clever schemes was pretending he had a twin brother named Mike! This storyline didn’t last long in the comics since it wasn’t such a hit and also from a logical point of view, it would be difficult for Matt to keep up the lie if he and his twin would never show in one place.

Despite its obscure status in the comics, the show referenced it in a clever way. When Claire Temple takes care of the injured Daredevil, he doesn’t give her his name, and instead, Claire starts calling him Mike. Claire could have gone for any different name but by using Mike, the first season proved that the writers knew their source material well.
4How Matt Murdock Became Blind
One of the first moments in the series is when Matt saves another person as a child and goes blind because of it when chemicals from crashed barrels get into his eyes and burn his sight away. Considering how dramatic the scene is, it’s easy to miss that the label of the barrels states 0464.
The MCU often uses numbers to put in fun references and easter eggs, and this is a good example. 0464 isn’t a random number at all. It means April 1964, which is also whenthe firstDaredevilcomic book everwas published!
3Melvin Potter’s True Nature
The series often introduced more obscure characters from the comics but changed their character. One such change happened with Melvin Potter. In the series, he’s a kind but scared man who designsarmored suits for Wilson Fiskbecause he fears what would happen if he said no. Ultimately, Melvin comes across as a good guy, and it’s easy to sympathize with him. That’s not the case in the comics where Melvin Potter was a villain. He took on the nickname Gladiator and became one of Daredevil’s first enemies. The only similarity between Melvin’s onscreen and comic book persona is that in both cases, he worked as a costume designer, and he also ended up working with Daredevil in the end.
It took him longer to make amends with Daredevil in the comics, though, and before he did, Gladiator tried to cause trouble for the masked superhero. Those viewers who know Melvin Potter’s comic book background might have noticed parts of the Gladiator costume in his workshop in the show, and if that wasn’t enough of an easter egg, there’s also a Gladiator poster hanging on the wall.
2Stan Lee’s Cameo
Stan Lee sadly passed away in 2018 but before that, no Marvel fan couldn’t imagine a Marvel movie without his cameo. Unfortunately, thoseDaredevilviewers who were hoping to see Lee in the series in person were disappointed. Stan Lee did have a cameo in the series but not in the way people might have expected.

As such, it was easy to miss it since it was a brief, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it occurrence. In the final episode of the first season of the show, Stan Lee’s portrait photo is seen hanging on the wall of the police station for a short moment. The portrait suggests that Lee at one point might have worked for the police himself!
1Questionable Romances
Foggy Nelson is Matt’s best friend, and he genuinely cares for Matt. As such, he’s not afraid to call Matt out on his bad habits. Foggy mentions one of them when he says that “if there’s a stunning woman with questionable character,” Matt will most likely start a relationship with her. This single line is more than just innocent teasing between good friends, though, as it quite accurately describes Matt’s romantic inclinations in the comics.
Not only does he date Elektra, who’s an assassin and unpredictable, buthe also had a romantic relationship with Black Widow, a former assassin! Sadly, considering Natasha passed away inAvengers: Endgame(2019), it’s highly unlikely the MCU will ever show Black Widow and Daredevil meeting, let alone dating.
