Disney Dreamlight Valley’sA Rift in Timeexpansion invites players to explore and uncover the secrets of an all-new region called Eternity Isle. Like the Valley, Eternity Isle is filled with new discoveries, including new wildlife, ingredients to gather and grow, quests to unlock, and more.
Players are introduced to a new mechanic called Timebending, a treasure-hunting task completed through the use of the Royal Hourglass, a royal tool obtained very early in the expansion’s story. Players will make regular use of this tool toretrieve new crafting materialsand remove obstacles they face in their exploration of the Isle’s biomes.
However, this doesn’t mean the player’s old trusty royal tools will get rusty from disuse. Eternity Isle featuresall new seedsfor players to grow to put their farming tools to use, and there are all new objectives, including stone masses and large plants that players will deftly remove with the use of the right tool.
The Royal Pickaxe is indispensable inA Rift in Timeas there is a new type of object to remove with it, Glass Stalagmites, and each of the new biomes features mineral veins hiding precious gemstones and useful minerals used for crafting recipes. Twonew gemstonesareSpineland its fancier version,Shiny Spinel, both of which are obtained via Mining in Eternity Isle. Here’s where players can find these gemstones inDisney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
Where to Find Spinel & Shiny Spinel
SpinelandShiny Spinelare pink gemstones obtained from mineral veins on Eternity Isle. These gems drop from nodes found in Eternity Isle’sWild Tangle biome, exclusively withinThe PromenadeandThe Groveareas.
Shiny Spinel are rarer than Spinel and fetch a higher price when sold at Goofy’s Stall. However, due to their rarity, most players prefer to hold onto these gemstones in case they are needed at a future date. It’s far easier and more sustainable to earn Star Coins byselling cooked meals.
When players arrive at Eternity Isle, they can access only the Ancient’s Landing biome, and additional areas are unlocked through story completion and by spending Mist,A Rift in Time’s version of the Dreamlight currency. Players will gain access to both the Wild Tangle and Glittering Dunes biomes after completing the quest “The Sands in the Hourglass.”
Initially, the player can explore only The Grasslands area of the Wild Tangle, but additional areas can be unlocked by spending Mist.
Once the player has access to these biomes, they will start to encounter mineral veins that have a chance of dropping Spinel and, occasionally, Shiny Spinel. Players should look out for nodes featuring pink gemstones protruding from the rock, as these will guarantee a gemstone drop.
Players should always bring alonga Mining companionwhen focusing specifically on collecting minerals and gemstones to ensure they get extra drops. Using aMiracle Pickaxe Polishor its Even More Miraculous version will guarantee gemstone drops for a limited number of taps.
What are Spinel & Shiny Spinel Used For
At this time, only Spinel has a use inDisney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time. Spinel is used to craft a small variety of decorative items, including the hilariously excessive and wonderful Heap of Riches. Spinel is also required to craft the Tropical Companion Home required to complete Rapunzel’s quest “The Housewarming.”
