Back in 2019, Google promised Stadia users thatDoom Eternalwould run on a 4K resolution. This led many fans of the franchise to believe that Google Stadia would actually be the premiere platform to playDoom Eternalon. However, it was recently revealed thatDoom Eternalwill not run on a true 4K resolution.

Doom Eternalis the long awaited follow-up game to the wildly popularDoom (2016), the successful reboot of theDoomfranchise and the first new entry in the main series since 2004. Since it was first announced at E3 2018, many fans are understandably excited for the game’s release. In fact, for the more dedicated fans, thecollector’s edition ofDoom Eternalwill actually include a wearable helmet.

Since its announcement, Bethesda has teased quite a bit of this game in terms of gameplay and graphics. However,Doom Eternaldemands quite a lot from the player in terms ofsystem requirements. But Google Stadia, the video game streaming service, announced that players would be able to experienceDoom Eternalat a 4K resolution. Sadly, it has now been announced thatDoom Eternalwill run at 3200 x 1800 pixels, which is not true 4K. For it to be true 4K, the game would have to run at a horizontal display resolution of 4000 pixels rounded up.

This really should not come as a surprise to most gaming enthusiasts. Since its launch back in November of last year, Google Stadia has had an arguably abysmal run so far. The platform’s gaming library consists of a little under thirty games for users to stream. Not to mentionthe severe lack of Stadia exclusives, which gives users next to no incentive to purchase Stadia.

Despite all this, at least Stadia users will still be able to playDoom Eternal. This game has been highly anticipated ever since it was first announced and with so many people excited for its release, it’s nice to know that it will be made available on so many different platforms. Plus, with all of the gameplay footage that has been shown over the last two years and all of the crazy features that Bethesda and Id Software will showcase in the main game, includinga choir of metal singers, this game will certainly be one for the ages.
