Some devs like to spell out their intentions about a game clearly in a blog post, while others like to tease their fans with cryptic clues, and some are a combination of the two. Right now, the franchise co-creator ofMortal Kombat 11, Ed Boon, is taking to Twitter to embody the second type of dev withcryptic clues aboutMK11.
Mortal Kombat 11fans are currently puzzling over what could be contained in the new DLC Ed Boon has been teasing for over a week, although they don’t have anything official to grasp onto at the moment. AMortal Kombat 11datamineleaked information that points to a possible voice pack DLC that puts in some movie characters' VAs over their game voices. Because Warner Bros. took the leaked audio down, many fans saw this as proof that the datamine is legitimate. Now Boon’s comments on Twitter are hinting even more at potential DLC and its new characters, although it is proving difficult to decode.

However, the clues and leaks don’t yet add up to anything official or substantial, although many fans are hoping forMortal Kombat 11to get AshWilliams from theEvil Deadfranchise, although Boon suggests there have been some issues getting him into the game. His latest tweet today says “Seriously #6 #actualclue3,” which is both cryptic and sparse, and is causing a ton of confusion among fans as they try to figure out what he’s referencing.
The comments to the original tweet are filled with people expressing plain confusion, although some people are taking “#6” to mean there will be six new DLC characters, or that the new characters will come fromMortal Kombat 6. Or, the DLC is coming out on the 6th of October, or there are six letters in a character’s name . . . many people believe Boon is trying to be potentially vague here, since there is very little to grasp onto in the tweet and fans are struggling to understand.
Of course,Ed Boon’s tweets are usually cryptic, at least when it comes to teasingMK11content, as seen by the inscrutable phrase “I see a tease in our future” that he typed out at the beginning of this month. If his goal is to create wild mass guessing and confusion, he’s achieved it, since no one has any solid theories at this point.
Fans may have to rely on other sources for information and leaks at this point, unless Boon starts tweeting things more substantial. As it is, his mystique is probably a marketing technique for the series, as it’s certainly getting fans talking online aboutMortal Kombat 11DLC.
