There was one point when many across the internet likely believedElden Ringto just be a collective fever dream. The hype generated by its initial teaser and announcement seemed unreal, especially as over time, it skipped event after event. Every single gaming event had many hope forElden Ringto appear, yet it didn’t for quite a long time.
During all of that,Elden Ringcould have shadow dropped at any time, and fans would have rushed out to buy it. This speaks to the high level of pedigree from FromSoftware and thepopularity of the Souls/Soulslike genre.Elden Ringgenerated so much hype because of what company is making it, and so minimal marketing is all that’s really required.

While news regardingElden Ringhas certainly been on the up and up since its June trailer, there are still a lot of unknowns. Sure, fans are aware ofElden Ring’s general synopsis, some features, some enemy designs, and so on, but the news slowed to a crawl. It’s more than the years of silenceElden Ringfans got, but it’s less than some may have hoped. But, ultimately, it’s a good thing.
Elden Ring: No News is Good News
Elden Ringhas always had a very limited news cycle, especially compared to other AAA games. Yet, as aforementioned, it doesn’t need it. The game could drop tomorrow, and it would likely sell very well. Really, the most fans should expect is probably another trailer and some new info by the end of the year, with perhaps something similar in January before it releases. WithElden Ring, the idiom “no news is good news” rings true because it’s never been that news-heavy in the first place.
On the seemingly safe assumption that FromSoftware keeps this up, this will allow its fans to go into thechallenges ofElden Ringin their first playthrough with no real expectation. And, now that fans know this game is real and tangible and has a release date, that’s really all they need. There’s currently a lot of demand for anElden Ringgameplay trailer, but when or even if that releases, FromSoftware should keep it as “loose” as possible so the game is experienced as freshly as possible
Elden Ring Release Date
So long asElden Ringkeeps to its “no news is good news” approach, fans should take solace that it seems to be on track. After such a long wait for that first big trailer, anElden Ringdelaydoesn’t seem likely (if not impossible), so the chances of fans being able to playElden Ringon January 21 seem pretty good.
Before they know it, fans will be traveling into the Lands Between, seeking the power of the Elden Ring, andbecoming the Elden Lord. Indeed, waiting forElden Ringhas become a game unto itself, and while there is a lot that could be shown, there’s a lot more that would make the game better by not being shown.Elden Ring’s marketing seemingly relies on the premise that sometimes it’s now what is shown but what isn’t shown, so a lack of news but a solid release date during a time of uncertainty is welcome.
Elden Ringreleases June 20, 2025, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
