Bastian and Mirri offer a bunch of benefits for players, the main one being that they essentially function as a second party member whose abilities are guided by the player. If you need a bit more healing or damage when playing the game solo, getting one of theseElder Scrolls Onlinecompanions is a great way to fill in the gaps.
Updated June 30, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: With two new ESO companions being added to the game with the High Isle expansion, Elder Scrolls Online players who haven’t recruited Mirri or Bastian are heading back to the world of Tamriel for a bit of catch-up. We don’t know how to get Ember or Isobel yet, though they will likely be found in circumstances unrelated to the Chapter’s main questline. Typically, ESO companions are earned after completing an introductory quest. Elder Scrolls Online companions are more than just lumps of meat that follow the player around: when it comes to companionsESO gets complex. Each companion has likes, dislikes, a personality, strengths, a unique ability, and a questline that progresses as you improve your relationship.
ESO High Isle Introduces Two New Companions
The newest Chapter inElder Scrolls Onlinetakes playersto a secluded island far to the west of Tamriel called High Isle. Chiefly Breton-controlled, the High Isle Chapter adds a lot more than idyllic medieval scenery - it’s also introducing two new companions, Ember the Khajiit and Isobel the Breton.
Ember the Khajiit is a Sorcerer damage-dealer and has a flexible attitude towards illegal acts and even things like murder, if PTS tests are to be believed. Isobel the Breton, on the other hand, is a classic Paladin-type Templar who specializes in healing and tanking. Though players won’t know how to recruit Ember or Isobel until theHigh IsleChapter releases, fans are already getting excited at the prospect of more variety. Bastian and Mirri aren’t such bad companions, though it will be nice to see two new faces once the new DLC is out.-
Overview Of Bastian and Mirri, Blackwood’s Companions
Bastian Hallix and Mirri Elendis are two very unique characters inElder Scrolls Online. They both have their own likes, dislikes, personalities, and backstories that make them feel more fully fleshed-out, especially when compared to the game’s standard fare of NPCs. They help in combat in an assigned role, have unique equipment, and generally act as a faux party member.

While there areplans to include morecompanions in futureElder Scrolls Onlinechapters and expansions, players only have these two choices for now. Both Bastian and Mirri are only recruitable after completing their associated introductory questlines in the Blackwood zone.
Overview of Bastian Hallix
A ward of a Breton House after his own House Hallix was disbanded, Bastian Hallix is a traditional “good guy” companion. He takes offense when the player commits evil actions (like killing innocents or stealing), and his companion-specific Perk increases the quality of looted Potions.
Overview of Mirri Elendis
Mirri Elendis is a Dark Elf amateur tomb raider and an avid archaeologist at heart who wants nothing more than to uncover artifacts and piece together the past. She does not take offensewhen the player kills innocents, pickpockets, or steals items, though she does have a particularly hard-to-avoid dislike of bugs.

It’s a Daedric ruin that features the Grapple Bow to move around certain areas – talk to Mirri standing outside to help her rescue her comrades from being sacrificed after a delve gone wrong.
After this, Mirri offers to follow the player on their adventures, after which the companion tab opens up in the Collections screen and her equipment can be customized. Mirritends to excel at DPSor Healing roles.
