Hot off the heels of crossovers with the likes ofDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaandSonic the Hedgehog, fans of GungHo Online Entertainment’sNinjalahave a lot to look forward to heading into 2022. First released in summer of 2020, the free-to-play action multiplayer game has been a major success. As it continues its hot streak,Ninjalafans have one more anime crossover to look forward this year with aRurouni Kenshincrossover slated to begin on December 15th.

Ninjalafirst released last year as a Nintendo Switch exclusive and has since managed to surpass over seven million downloads, making it one of the most successful free-to-play games on the platform to date. The game pits up to eight players in an arena combat scenario, utilizing a variety of melee and ranged attacks in 2v2 or battle royale game modes. The game has often been compared to Nintendo’sSplatoonfranchise, howeverNinjalais far more accessible as a free-to-play title. So far, the game has already crossed over with franchises such asSonic the Hedgehog, Monster Hunter,Puzzles & Dragons, and the massively popularDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibaanime and manga franchise.

Now, GungHo has revealed that the latest crossover will be with the long-running anime and manga series,Rurouni Kenshin. TheRurouni Kenshinmanga first started its run in 1994 and continues to this day as part of Jump Square magazine. The manga went on tospawn multiple anime and live-action spin-offs, and inspired other popular manga such asYu Yu Hakusho.

As it makes its debut inNinjala, there will be new skins added to the game based on popular characters such as Kenshin Himura, and Hajime Saito. Five new Ninja-Gum skins will also be included, along with a new gameplay feature called the “Battle Frequency Bonus,” which will reward players with items featured in the collaboration based on the number of matches they win. A collab tournament titled the “Rurouni KenshinCup” is also set to take place on January 10th, 2022. Full details of the collaboration can be read below and aDev Diary is planned for December 1st.

While this will be the collaboration that caps off 2021, it also sets a strong start to 2022 forNinjala. Now thatthe game has two Shonen Jump collaborations under its belt, it could only be a matter of time before more anime and manga-inspired content comes to the game.
