Ever since 1997,Final Fantasy 7has been capturing audiences through its interesting world, well-written characters, and excellent storytelling that has been expanded with spin-off games and movies. 2020’sFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeintroduced a whole new generation of players to the legendary world of Midgar, the rebel group of Avalanche, and the terrifying threat of Sephiroth. WhileRemakeintroduced some story threads that did not sit well with many fans, Square Enix has doubled down on its ambitious plot, announcingFinal Fantasy 7: The First Soldieramong other titles.The First Soldieris a battle royale set before the original game where players fight to the death in order to become Shinra’s first SOLDIER.

As of October 27, fans can pre-register forFinal Fantasy 7: The First Soldier. There are a variety of ways of doing so: users can go to the game’s official listing on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and pre-order it there; likewise, simply following one of the game’s many social media accounts will also count as a pre-register, though this method won’t link to any game account. Square Enix has announced a series of gifts for players as the game hits various pre-registration milestones, like aChocobo Egg at 300,000 pre-registrations, and a Shinra helicopter skin at 2,000,000 pre-registrations.
At the beginning of the summer, some fans got an opportunity to gohands-on withFinal Fantasy 7: The First Soldier, with results being mixed. Being set within theFinal Fantasy 7universe, the gameplay features those fundamental battle royale mechanics of looting and finding better gear, but with aFinal Fantasytwist. Players must not only deal with other enemy players, but also traditionalFinal Fantasyenemies, and defeating both with allow the player to level up their character, which in turn increases their overall statistics for the match. As a mobile exclusive, though, there are natural restrictions that come with playing on a touch screen, as well as expected microtransactions.
