WhenFinal Fantasy VII Remakelaunched in 2020, after Sony announced thePS5, many fans knew it was only a matter of time before it got ported to the new system. A little more than a year later this prediction came true and with it more elements than one might have originally thought.

Yuffie getting her own DLC was one such surprise. As great as it is to play with her and Sonon in a new campaign taking place during events of the main game, it also raises a lot of questions. There are things introduced in the DLC that don’t add up. In order to properly deep dive into these questions, spoilers will be raised. Make no mistake though, these senseless elements don’t hurt the game in the slightest and are more fun to think about than anything.
8The Moogle Outfit
Why does Yuffie keep the Moogle outfit on for so long? Does Shinra know who she is? That seems unlikely even though they are at war with Wutai. The only other reason for her disguise seems to be so thatSquare Enixcould create that reveal party for her, which was very Sailor Moon-like. It’s a funny scene in the remake to be sure, but the outfit still doesn’t completely add up.
7Yuffie Can’t Enter 7th Heaven
One of the biggest new elements introducedinto the remakewas the Whispers. These Dementor-looking ghosts seemingly were created so that they could stop people from interfering withthe original game’s timeline. However, there are moments that break that original’s lore so that begs the question on how much they can intervene. In the Yuffie DLC, they are never shown but if players start to walk into the 7th Heaven bar, Yuffie will be pushed back by an invisible barrier. Why can she not do that but she can play a mini-game with Jessie?
6Ninjas Can’t Run Across Moving Trains?
Yuffie makes a big deal on how strong of a ninja she is in the game. It’s true. She is a very capable ninja with athletic moves that might even give Tifa’s nimble body a run for her money.

As good as she is how come she can’t run across train cars in the factory? In order to continue on, players have to hit switches for various train tracks to stop the moving cars. It’s not like these cars are even going so fast, so what’s the deal here?
5Getting Items From A Distance
Another gameplay element that can leave players scratching their heads involves Yuffie’s giant shuriken. If players throw it at boxes from a distance, they will return to her kind of like a boomerang. Whether it was a boomerang or not is irrelevant because this action still wouldn’t make sense. How could any weapon other than a long-reaching arm grab things such as potions in glass bottles? Wouldn’t they break on impact? For the sake of the game’s mechanics, it’s best not to dwell on this question for too long.
4Where Was Old Snapper And Fort Condor In The Original Game?
Midgar is a huge city and or country. That plot element is never really fully discussed in the remake orthe original game. The point is it would be very easy for Cloud not to meet characters from this new DLC. That is, if the entire city was playable, which it is not. Most of the game takes place in a central sector as a hub wherein Cloud can do quests for a lot of people in the area. None of them bring him to new characters like Old Snapper, or Polk though which, again, is plausible. What is less plausible is that no one brings up the mini game of Fort Condor, which is all over this DLC episode.
3Roche Is Into Mini Games?
On the subject of Fort Condor, it is a bit hard to believe that Roche is into it. He is one of the more wild new charactersin the remake. Some might argue that he is the best if not close to the best new characters featured. Him settling down to play a board game is a bit bizarre even for him though. He’s definitely a lot softer in this DLC then he was in the original release of the remake. This might suggest he could actually become a real friend to Cloud later down the line. He was never that malicious, to begin with, unlike other Shinra soldiers.
2Why Were Sephiroth’s Clones In The Game?
Yuffie will come across several of the cloaked tattoo men in her travels. These are basically failed experiments with Jenova that Sephiroth is able to use to sort of project himself into. It never made sense inthe original gameand it certainly wasn’t explained any betterin the remake. For Cloud’s plot, adding them in made sense as they were central to the plot. Adding them in for Yuffie didn’t lead to anything. They were just there.

There is one theory as to why they were included in her DLC. Sonon’s fate is never fully revealed by the end. Is he dead, or alive? If he is alive he could return as one of these Jenova experiments. If Yuffie comes across another cloaked figure in her travels only to see it is Sonon, then their inclusion in the DLC would make sense as foreshadowing.
1Yuffie Immediately Running Away At The End
After Sonon gets stabbed by Nero, the ending itself is very abrupt. Yuffie is able to run out of Shinra HQ very easily just in time to see the plates falling down. Afterward, she is shown riding a Chocobo in the dusty plains of Midgar. Why did she run away and how could she get away so far are the two big questions.
Without allies like Sonon she could have figured she needed backup which makes sense given her final linein the remakeinvolving recruiting people. It’s hard to forget as skilled as she is as a ninja, Yuffie is still just a teenager with emotions. Seeing anyone die like Sonon would upset even the strongest soldiers. She is only human after all which makes her a relatable character.
