The winners of this year’s Choose Your Legends event are Gatekeeper, Marianne, Marth, and Eirika. Gatekeeper and Marianne come fromthe recentFire Emblem: Three Houses, Marth is from the originalFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, and Eirika comes fromFire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Out of these characters, Gatekeeper had the most votes by far, clocking in at 72,267 total.

The most exciting prospect of this event each year is the brand new artwork and costumes each winner will receive. Marth will likely get a look based off of his original artwork for therecently re-releasedShadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. Eirika will likely get similar treatment, while Gatekeeper and Marianne will likely get their standard looks, as this is theirHeroesdebut. These new units likely won’t release for a few months, but now fans of each character have something exciting to look forward to.

Gatekeeper may seem like an odd choice to those who missed the voting process. He is a relatively minor non-playable character inThree Houses, yet he won above many series protagonists, including Byleth from the very same game. Some fans believe playersonly voted for Gatekeeper as a joke, while others genuinely enjoyed the character’s friendly attitude despite his minor role. Either way, he will soon be making his playable debut inFire Emblem Heroes.
