Fortnitehas rolled out its Week 11 quests, giving players a fresh batch of tasks to complete in exchange for sizable chunks of XP. One of the latest quests has players take on a seemingly random task in placing a spirit crystal at the tallest mountain on the entire island.
Despite the verbiage of this particular quest, players won’t have to first acquire the previously mentioned crystal or anything like that beforehand. Crystals have been featured before in an earlier quest this season, with players needing tostrike three resonant crystals at The Spirea few weeks ago, a task with the same mysterious lack of context.

How to Place A Spirit Crystal At The Tallest Mountain in Fortnite
Placing a spirit crystal at the tallest mountain inFortniteis quite the straightforward task, but only if players are aware of where that tallest mountain actually is. As it currently stands in Season 6, the Mount Kay POI is not only the tallest mountain on the island but the highest elevation point on the entire map. Mount Kay, for those unaware, is the snow-covered mountain situated in the southeast corner of the current island, specifically the highest peak.
To complete the quest, all players need to do is either land or ascend to the top, which will be easily visible from the red flag marker, and press the interact button on the nearby space.
Once the crystal has been placed and the quest completed, players can begin to tackle another one of Week 11’s quests nearby. Located near the other end of the snowy mountain range is Brutus' Basin, the former Shadow base that is one half of the quest tovisit Ghost and Shadow ruins. Having seemingly no overt context like the spirit crystal quest, fans are beginning to wildly speculate that the secret rival organizations, as well as crystals, may hold some sort of undisclosed significance to furtheringFortnite’s ongoing storyline.
Another theory regarding the purpose of the spirit crystal fans are coming up with is the incoming Season 7possibly introducing Crystal weapons. An upgrade tier introduced inFortnite’s lesser-played Save the World mode, shifting the Battle Royale’s weapon crafting system from makeshift and primal-type weapons to something different would be a sensible move. It’s long been rumored that the next season will be essentially the inverse to the current one, and will feature a futuristic/alien theme, something the ethereal crystals would be well-suited for.
Whatever the case may be, hidden meaning or not, this quest can be done very quickly if players know where to drop in. With just a few weeks left before Season 6 ends, some players may have reached levels that render additional quests largely pointless. However,Fortniteis rolling out more than just quests this week, asthe NBA crossover eventhas now spread to Creative, offering players an all-new basketball LTM.
Fortniteis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
