Overwatch 2developers shared additional information about the upcoming heroes to join the roster of Blizzard’s FPS, hinting that fans may already know some of them as they previously appeared in the game’s lore. The backstory ofOverwatch 2is filled with secondary characters assisting the heroes across their journey, with some having bigger importance than others when it comes to shaping the history of the mainOverwatch 2protagonists.
Blizzard regularly adds new characters to theOverwatch 2roster, balancing the game with the addition of a new tank, support, or DPS hero. Thelatest character to join theOverwatch 2roster was Ramattra, a tank hero made available on June 01, 2025. As the previous two heroes who joined the game, Kiriko, Sojourn, and Junker Queen, respectively endorsed the roles of support, assault, and tank characters,Overwatch 2players hope that Blizzard will soon announce a new DPS hero.

In a Q&A session with Twitch streamers Christal Raine and Bro You Wack,Overwatch 2lead hero designer Alec Dawson teased that heroes joining the playable roster in the future might be “familiar faces” already known by fans as they previously appeared in thelore ofOverwatch 2just like Junker Queenor Sojourn. He also mentioned that theOverwatch 2development team wanted a mix of new and existing faces becoming playable heroes, so they planned to introduce new lore elements and characters in the near future.
For the past few months, Blizzard focussed on balancing the heroes abilities to make a better-optimized game rather than introducing newOverwatch 2characters. Scott Mercer and Morgan Maddren, respectively meta designer and senior software engineer, recentlyaskedOverwatch 2players to stop smurfingso that everyone could enjoy a better competitive experience. To further improve the overall gaming experience onOverwatch 2, Blizzard considered a variety of changes to prevent players from voluntarily leaving their matches early.
WhileOverwatch 2players wait for new heroes to join Blizzard’s FPS, they can dress up the existing characters with a large range of cosmetic elements. The recently releasedOverwatch 2 x One Punch Mancollaboration brought four themed legendary skinsfor some of the heroes to dress like the characters from the popular anime series, from the One Punch Man himself to Genos, Terrible Tornado, and the Mumen Rider. This collaboration will run until April 6, with a free legendary skin to unlock by playingOverwatch 2matches while the others are only available through the in-game shop.
