It’s strange to think that, five months away from its two-year anniversary, there are still supply issues when it comes to thePS5. The pandemic, the chip shortage, and all of that are well-known by this point, but for many who want thePS5, it’s still a frustrating point.
There have been several restocks over the past year or so, with most of these taking place along. These are usually reserved for memberships too. GameStop, Best Buy,Walmart, and more have all had PS5 restocks, but in-store restocks are rare. For those attempting to get one in person, the best bet tomorrow, May 28, is their local GameStop.

GameStop has announced that all brick and mortar stores in the contiguous United States (meaning everywhere except Hawaii, Alaska, and Guam) will be selling PS5 bundles tomorrow, May 28. There is no time period put on this sale, so those trying to get a PS5 would be wise to get there before opening and try to snag them right away. These sales are obviously while supplies last, and consumers will need to be a PowerUp Rewards Pro member in order to buy one.
However, GameStop refrained from confirming one important detail: what the bundles are and how much they cost. WhileSony recently announced an officialHorizon Forbidden WestPS5 bundle, chances are these are more standard bundles including, potentially, new controllers, a game, and/or PS Plus subscriptions. Unfortunately, this means it’s hard to say how much these PS5 bundles will cost. The PS5 Digital (which is likely to be fewer in number) retails at $399, while the standard PS5 is $499. It would be wise to plan on spending $100-300 more than that, depending on what’s in the bundle.
Meanwhile, new PS5 owners will have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. There aState of Play scheduled for June 2, focusing on third-party and PS VR2 titles—both of which will likely feature some PS5-related games. There’s even a solid chance thatFinal Fantasy 16is at the upcoming State of Play. More than that, though, PS Plus Premium launches on June 13.
Because thePS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium tiersfeature a library of crudely 700 PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, PS4, and PS5 titles, including really popular games, these subscriptions are perfect for new owners. However, it’s still going to take a little luck to get hands on a PS5.
