Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Kaveh is an exciting new addition toGenshin Impact’s roster of playable characters. Previously introduced in the Archon Quest and Alhaitham’s story quests, Kaveh’s charming and fun personality quickly made him a fan favorite. As a 4-star Dendro Claymore user hailing from Sumeru, Kaveh fills an important gap in the game’s weapon range, becoming the first and only character to wield this weapon type with the Dendro element.

However, despite his unique playstyle and weapon choice, some players may overlook Kaveh and his distinct kit due to theunderwhelming popularity of Claymorecharacters inGenshin Impact, and the weapon class having the least amount of members. Nonetheless, Kaveh brings his own unique flair to the game and is sure to delight players who appreciate his strengths and playstyle.
6Comparing Kaveh to Nilou
Upon first glance, players will immediately notice that Kaveh’s kit revolves heavily around the Bloom elemental reaction. Many may even consider Kaveh as a replacement oraddition to Nilou team, due to their ability to work together in generating Dendro Cores with one being Hydro and the other being Dendro and both having access to boosted Bloom Damage. However, despite their similarities, Kaveh brings a unique set ofaspects to the Bloom reactionthat set him apart from Nilou.

The first notable difference is that Kaveh does not have a passive ability similar to the one from Nilou which transforms Dendro Cores to Bountiful Core, which means that he is not limited to only Dendro and Hydro team compositions. Additionally, Kaveh can explode Dendro cores on demand with some cooldown, rather than them automatically being burst with a short delay after they are generated, as Nilou does. This makes Kaveh open to more flexible team compositions and allows him to benefit greatly from Anemo characters' crowd control abilities, as they can group enemies and Dendro cores together, even though he may need more planning on timing the explosions for optimal damage.
5Not Understanding His Burst
Kaveh’s Elemental Burst, Painted Dome, is a powerful ability that grants him Dendro infusion, enabling his Normal, Charged, and Plunging attacks to deal Dendro DMG and apply Dendro to enemies. Additionally, Kaveh gains increased resistance to interruption. What makes this ability unique is that every existing Dendro Core in a significant AoE range around Kaveh will immediately explode when the Elemental Burst is activated, regardless of who generated them. The damage of the explosions is further increased based on Kaveh’s Elemental Burst talent level, making it essential for players to prioritize this talent if they want to maximize his Bloom damage output. Timing his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst rotations is crucial to ensure enough Dendro Cores are generated to optimize the damage potential.
An additional aspect that players may overlook is Kaveh’s Ascension passive, “A Craftsman’s Curious Conceptions,” which increases his Elemental Mastery by up to 4 stacks during his Elemental Burst. Players should prioritize using normal attacks to quickly reach the maximum stack level. Additionally, players who obtain his sixth constellation will be able to burst existing Dendro Cores using Kaveh’s Dendro-infused attacks at a much faster interval of 3 seconds rather than the usual 6 seconds.
4Using Him As Sub-DPS
Kaveh’s playstyle is centered around being an on-field DPS since he lacks off-field abilities and his Elemental Skill cooldown is relatively short. Additionally, his Elemental Burst has a lengthy cooldown of 20 seconds but can last up to 12 seconds, expiring early if Kaveh leaves the field.

While he may not be the best character topair with his roommate Alhaitham(which many players have hoped for), as they both require significant on-field time, players can swap to other characters during Kaveh’s downtime to apply off-field or short duration abilities before returning to him. This allows players to maintain his Dendro-infused damage almost continuously, as long as they can manage his Elemental Burst.
3Only Focusing on Elemental Mastery
Although Elemental Mastery is crucial for Kaveh’s kit and is highly recommended for Bloom damage, players should be mindful that solely focusing on this stat can lead to diminishing returns. This is because Kaveh’s Elemental Burst requires a hefty amount of 80 Energy, and players must prioritize Energy Recharge as a secondary stat or utilize suitable battery characters to consistently upkeep his burst.
While Elemental Mastery and Energy Recharge are generally sufficient for a Bloom team, players interested in experimenting with a Kaveh Spread team must also prioritize Crit Rate and Crit DMG stats, similar to most DPS charactersin the current roster.
2Not Selecting The Right Artifacts For The Team’s Need
Although the choice of artifact sets depends on the player’s individual preferences and their team composition, it is important not to overlook which set is best suited for their needs. Kaveh’s kit is well suited for the 4-piece Paradise Lost artifact set, particularly for players who use him in a Bloom team. This is because many of Kaveh’s abilities trigger Dendro Cores, and his fourth constellation requires him to be the one to trigger them for additional Bloom damage.

Despite this, players should still take into account if any other team members are using sets like Deepwood Memories to boost the overall damage of the team, as this set can work even when off-field. Moreover, if players plan on using Kaveh for Spread damage, they won’t benefit from Paradise Lost and should instead focus on theGilded Dreams 4-piece set, like Alhaitham, or use Deepwood Memories if no other team member is already using it.
1Not Knowing How Kaveh Can Heal Himself
Kaveh’s self-healing ability through Dendro Core bursts is an interesting addition to his kit, as it synergizes well with the AoE damage they inflict. However, it is important to note that this ability is not always reliable, as it can only activate if Kaveh takes damage from these bursts. In other words, he won’t be able to self-heal if he takes damage from other sources, which can be a significant drawback in tough battles.
While Kaveh’s self-healing can make him more self-sufficient, players still need to be careful and avoid unnecessary damage. Additionally, havinga dedicated healeror shielder character can still be useful to ensure that both Kaveh and other team members stay healthy throughout the battle. Ultimately, it’s up to the players to decide how they want to balance Kaveh’s self-healing with other team composition choices.
